I really love this jumper, but jesus christ how does Givenchy justify their prices?

£1,155.00 for a POLY-FUCKING-ESTER jumper. Seriously how can they charge this for polyester, and why the fuck is it polyester in the first place and not some rare artisan wool or some shit.

Spend £300 on getting a replica made. The design is simple enough. Pft, shill out an extra 50 quid and get some secret smell proof pockets.

it should really be realized that all art forms, fashion included, have a high markup directly related to how much they believe people will pay for their products.

The actual cost of materials to produce clothing like this is very close to pretty much every other shirt/jumper/article of clothing around. When you think about how much everyone needs to be paid in the chain of command (CEO, designers, various employees), it raises a little.

Then they add on the markup for how well their marketing team is. IE Givenchy identifies itself as a "luxury French brand" when in reality it's quality may be somewhat similar to another brand that identifies as "cheap, comfortable clothing for the working man".

The time and money spent into making Givenchy look like something that SHOULD be a lot of money (but really isn't worth a lot theoretically), is why it costs to much. It's all mind games.

That's a really ugly sweater, to be honest. What are you planning to wear it with?

Yes but it's its fucking POLYESTER BRO. They make cashmere knits and stuff for the same price or cheaper than this.

Polyester is an absolute dogshit material.

Disgusting. Go and get a bespoke suit with that kind of money.

I don't think I could ever own a garment made out of 100% polyester. It's literally the worst material in the world, smh Ricardo I expected better from you.

>> No.8536534

I kind of agree with OP. For that price it should be wool or even a wool blend. Polyester is just unacceptable. You can't get different grades of polyester, so it's just going to be the same material that £5 sweaters are made from.

Cotton, wool, leather etc. all come in different grades. Polyester is just man made plastic disgustingness.

You're implying the Mona Lisa is worth $200 because of the materials, since they are basically wood, canvas and some paint.

well, most clothing is made to actually be worn.

givenchy's prices are all incredibly jacked up. they're a luxury brand no different from versace or whatever else you'd care to name and you buy them to show off wealth, not because it's worth the price. the only difference is givenchy actually puts out non-trash designs and prints pretty consistently so people get the idea that they're somehow in a league of their own or producing the sort of fashion that anyone who isn't rich should ever bother buying, which isn't true

unless you see givenchy for like 75% off retail price there's no reason to buy it if you're less than filthy rich
