I like this style, old fashioned ankle-brogues are the best.

I actually owe you thanks anon because Ive been looking for a new pair of boots similar to pic related. I brought them about 4 months ago and they are already fucked with the soles coming off...don't buy stacy adams. I'm going to peruse the Hudson site now.

I don't suppose anyone knows the quality of the leather in these?

I bought a pair of these few years ago and here's what I can tell you: the boots may be be good looking at first, but the quality is very bad/cheap.
Also they are harder to put than other boots, probably not well designed, it always takes so much time to put them on.

You should go for Tommy Hilfiger's boots or Hugo Boss

I even had to order my Stacy Adams; a "mall boot" in the states, and pay a shitload in shipping....might as well of spent an extra 250 buck and brought a pair of Hilfigers!

I'm going to google around now though see if theres any actual leather shops around this backwater burg

But I've been meaning to check out the new high end of the town, got some ted baker and hugo boss shops there so maybe I can find some quality boots aye. Everything else is like Hush Puppies/ No. 1 shoes, no shit. The only bespoke footwear shops are really just custom-made gimp footwear or prop department shit.
I-I just want some sturdy 1920's work boots

Or I could invest in a pair of Allen's and get it posted to here via Aus, probably the best option.

Aucklander here too, my advice is to buy online, we don't have too many great deals on good boots here going on right now. Redwings, clarks, docs etc. are double for what u pay online.

And what the other dude said about workshop, u should go and visit a store, they stock H by Hudson and try a pair on to see if its for you. They also have a sample/end of line store open right now at 50 Cook Street in CBD. No shoes there tho.

i'll never got why, on the most mundane newspaper blogs and random, non-fashion-related message boards, that aussies an new zealanders would flock to allen edmonds, that absolutely fleece you with international shipping because they're lazy and use one of those reshippers, instead of more accessible shoes from england

it was obvious: an american dominated english-speaking net
lots of good deals on A&E internally, but for those not in CONUS it's a junk deal.
english retailers often offer cheap shipping, if it's not just free

that uk anon said over 500 bucks for strands?
what?!
you can get them for half that intermittently throughout the year

Could anyone- who owns Allen Edmonds strands please give me a lowdown on how you size them compared to other stuff you own?

The D width is probably too narrow for my feet, but it's the most readily available and the kinds that are most on sale.

Would a half size larger make do if say, and E width was not available in a certain size? Or would that make it too long?
