Curly hair always looks very dry.
Use conditioner to make them look healthy.
Also do not wash them every day.
Twice a week is alright.
Do not crop hair with hair trimmer, scissors only.
There are a lot of curly dudes who trimm their hair too short. to avoid messy look.
Try grow hair for a few months, it might turn out really nice.
If you have small head curly is for you.

I don't use anything right now.. just blowdry it and then put some hairspray to keep it in place, it looks really stupid most of the time

This will sound super fuckin pleb, but when I used to straighten my hair (before I let it go Zimmerman) I used a the volumizing (have no idea how it's spelled) spray by the company with the pink kangaroo and Got2b: Glued.

The spray brings it up and keeps it in place, after you've used the Got2b to style it.

The Got2b is good because it doesn't look visibly produced in your hair. It doesn't leave too much of a mark, if you get what I am saying. It just blends.

The spray looks the same if you do not use a generous amount.

I'm sorry, are you saying to condition a lot, and to only shampoo once or twice a week?
