I hear the tan one looks beat up much faster, and that the green one looks new for longer. Depends what you want, really.

I got one of these recently: Billykirk carryall 165 (medium), for a general bag, but it's not the best shape for carrying a laptop (it's like an old doctor's bag and opens wide) so I'm looking at Filson as well.

Navy filson looks kinda boring, ditto with black.
Might end up with Tan as i'm not all too fond of the military-like green.

“Hipster” is a term co-opted for use as a meaningless pejorative in order to vaguely call someone else’s authenticity into question and, by extension, claim authenticity for yourself.

It serves no conversational function and imparts no information, save for indicating the opinions and preferences of the speaker.

Meanwhile, a market myth has sprung up around the term, as well as a cultural bogeyman consisting of elusive white 20-somethings who wear certain clothes (but no one will agree on what), listen to certain music (no one can agree on this either), and act a certain way (you’ve probably sensed the pattern on your own).

You can’t define what “that kind of behavior or fashion or lifestyle” actually is, nor will you ever be able to. That’s because you don’t use “hipster” to describe an actual group of people, but to describe a fictional stereotype that is an outlet for literally anything that annoys you.

The twist, of course, is that if it weren’t for your own insecurities, nothing that a “hipster” could do or wear would ever affect you emotionally. But you are insecure about your own authenticity - “Do I wear what I wear because I want to? Do I listen to my music because I truly like it? I’m certainly not like those filthy hipsters!” - so you project those feelings.

Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, “ironic” Them.

tl;dr: if you believe hipsters exist, you are a plebeian.

I have the beige backpack OP.

Here's my review of the canvas backpack (pictured).

Got it from a Chinese wholesale website (That one with the weird name)
Great stability and comfort even after 3+ years. Front zippers failed, no longer zips up though. The pocket's inside the backpack are great but mostly useless for what I use it for (storing my laptop). I kind of wish I just bought a backpack with more outside pockets, because I never utilize the inside ones. The other downside is that the inside pockets are very flimsy as they have no backing material built inside the fabrics. Overall, apart from the shitty zippers, the backpack has shown 0 signs of failure or ripping. The leather is great too.

I should note I removed the canvas lace that closes the backpack up. I went to Joannes and bought some really durable, thick, cotton yard (like 1/8th or something that fits through the holes inside). Works great. I would recommend anyone a canvas bag in a heartbeat. I'm also pretty cross-faded

opinions on the jansport oxidation?
just the appearance, unless you own one have personal input.

my right pack was shit
it was the one with the leather on the bottom, right?
ripped in less than 2 weeks, hole became a quarter after like 10 days
would not recommend, returned it and got the City Scout (same thing but bottom is nylon, not leather)
mine is still fine, but seems like its wearing away slowly.

yes, nothing groundbreaking but a good and durable backpack and there's a high chance that people who see your backpack think it looks great because unlike /fa/, the real world still seems to like the brand

yeah they do
it is like "nerd", they are terms with glamour now
hipsters were probably urban faggots with unique specialsnowflakelike cultural costumes as nerds were basementdwellers

now nerd and hipster are words for a set of superficial aesthetic values

no offense, but this kinda reminds me of the girl in high school who lived in a trailer and probably smoked weed with her mom, and who really didn't grasp any of the concepts in chemistry class and probably didn't have plans to go to college after high school - and not that that's a bad thing because it's probably not for everybody - but you just knew she wasn't going on to do good things after, either. her future was fraught with unplanned pregnancies and drunken fights with ex-boyfriends, and she was never going to own a car nicer than a beat up cavalier, and you felt kinda bad for her, but at the same time, she didn't even give enough fucks to do well in school, so she sure as hell didn't give a fuck about random people 'feeling bad' for her. she probably gets in nasty facebook arguments with random other shitty people often.

yeah, that's the sort of bag she would put her shit in.
