What are your thoughts on Barbour Wax Jackets?

I am torn between a Barbour or a Harrington for an "expensive" jacket. The Barbour is currently winning due to its practicality but I know they are very different and probably shouldn't be compared. I can probably afford both, but I don't want to blow all my money at once.

What do you think of the "belts" (or whatever they're called) on jackets? Typically seen on macs and trench coats. One of the Barbour jackets I like has one and I'm wondering if they should always be worn done up or if they can hang loose.

I've got 3 pairs of pants and a parka from them. 1 pair of the pants had a loose thread on them, but that's about it. Parka fits great.

Only thing i'd recommend is making sure you're 95% sure on the sizing before you buy. Returning/exchanging through them is an absolute bitch, due to their location.

I really like this one on uniqlo but the size/colour I want is sold out.

MFW Holden Fishtail parka is sold out everywhere and I want one.
Next season their parkas all have plaid on them and I just want clean black.

W2C something like it suitable for the winter?
