I think most of the problem with these guys is that they've got no sense of dressing according to the occasion. They wanna wear their full suits and hats all the fucking time, regardless of what they're doing, and don't even make an attempt to incorporate it in a modern way or make use of other more casual retro styles.

I equate these guys to the people who reenact past wars like the revolutionary and civil war reen-actors except the fedora tards don't know they're reenacting.

Some of them certainly look good but they look good for that time. They stand out wrong today. Those men they idolize like Bogart wouldn't be wearing fedoras or those dated suits if they were the same age as they were today; he'd be wearing some sort of #menswear correctly, not somebody trying to emulate a style of half a century earlier.

There was probably somebody in 1950 who tried dressing as someone from 1900 and was looked at like an idiot

I think we shouldn't really make fun of people who are dressing as part of reenactment or vintage-fashion revival group or doing something themed. The problem is that this thread puts both them and fedoralards in the same box, but most of those 40+ people look like the same people I see in Civil War reenactments just dicking around and having fun. I'm quite sure that this is just a fun hobby or collection to them, unlike 14yo My Little Pony fans in trenchcoats who take it seriously.
