I have a mackintosh and I love it. For any sort of trench, a brand like Topman has fits that won't make you look like a pedo. I also have a good umbrella, matched to some dark denim that keeps well in the rain

nike has some decent cheap water proof jackets and parkas if you're on a budget and want something more contemporary than a traditional rain coat
