It's really hard to advise you without a pic.
All I can say is to wash your hair, let it dry till it's slightly damp, spread the product evenly on your palms (don't use a lot of pomade), work it into your roots and style as you like it. Just embrace the waves and if it looks tame after that then use hairspray to keep it like that...Real hard without a pic though!
