I like Lean a lot. No he's not a good technical rapper but the world is filled with technical rappers, it feels like everyday there's a new one that everyone needs to watch out for because their flow is so good and their rhymes are so sick. But at the end of the day most of them are pretty forgettable because they have nothing else going for them.

Lean might not have the rap skills but he has real vision, creativity, unique ideas, the ability to create his own universe and aesthetic. He might not be technically skilled and yet I'm more interested in what he's doing than anyone else his age in the game. He also knows how to surround himself with really good people, namely the beats and the video production are both high level stuff.

I dunno, I think he's sort of doing his own thing and it has a lot of resonance right now. I also like that he's not hard at all and doesn't try to act like it, that alone scores him major points in my books. Then again I also think part of it is that I'm 25 and sort of removed from him, I get the feeling a lot of the haters on 4chan are other kids his age who don't think any of his thoughts or ideas are cool because they have the same ones. Well get out there and make it happen instead of hating.
