Can I get recommendations for how best to re-decorate my room? Taking up my old carpet atm, and planning on painting over the old blue colour but can't decide on a decent floor/skirting/wall colour scheme

Tempted to just paint everything from the skirting boards up white but idk, some difference between the skirting boards and wall seems natural

1. Paint the walls light grey. Paint a single wall, the one that is right behing the bed, dark grey or something more like titanuim.
2. Change your bed to something more rustic or manly, you can keep it wooden made. 3. Keep your bed clothing white.
4. Grab 2 side tables to your bed, collored white, black, grey or wooden made. Put some books, a small succulent plant and lanterns in both side tables.
5. Grab a cool poster or painting in the wall behind your bed.
6. Grab white curtains in your window,

Any opinions on BrickBox for storage?

I think I'd like to invest in something modular, mostly for books. I'm moving soon so it seems good to have something I can rearrange.

>>8360190

That looks really decent actually, although your floor is in far better condition than mine. I think the floors are Edwardian (brit here) so I suppose I'll take a gamble with a rustic minimalist look

Guess I'll go with the all white then, will post back here (maybe in a few days) with progress

They replaced it with Kallax. It's the same idea but with thinner sides because Ikea use an insane amount of wood and they want to save costs (or trees if you believe the PR). Doesn't look as nice IMO.

last one.

anybody got more? it really gives me a futuristic feel. i can dig it to be honest. not sure if it'd be as cool in reality as it seems.

i can see it being rather frustrating at times, but it also has it ups compared to a 'regular' house/apartment.

Mot just you, this is my main ambition at the moment. I love the simplicity of a lot of Japanese apartments, just sitting on the floor, rolling away your futon when you get up... it's a better use of space to me.

It's a good inspiration to simplify your life. Most people (me included) hang on to a lot of stuff they never use. You especially don't need a lot if you live in the middle of a city.

A lot of Japanese places seem to have a nice balance between being small and uncluttered while still feeling warm and being super functional with little things like having a sink to wash your hands on top of the toilet to save space and water. When we try to do this in the west we usually end up with some clinical white room that's too minimal to actually be used effectively.

The way the housing market is going here space is going to be at a huge premium for younger people who want to live alone anyway so I think people will be finding creative solutions for living in smaller and smaller apartments.

>>8360311
I've heard people who've moved to Japan say it inspires them to go out more in a good way. If your kitchen is tiny you start to want to go out to eat. Hopefully that'll help you meet people and not suicide.

i totally agree. these apartments look functional and warm despite being messy as hell. there are little downsides to these apartments really.
i can see some people not liking it though.

also dig your picture, but i really like the futuristic vibe these apartments have. i never really liked european interior design unless it's something really progressive.

a good place? depends on where you are. in the trendy part of town there would be a hip indoor nursery no doubt.
but I just got my house plants from bunnings (hardware store with nursery section; inc. indoor plant section). They're palm, they're pretty tidy, hardy and bring a freshness to the room. just go check out a few places until you find plants you like

old photo, I have one at each end and they're a bit bigger/ more full now.
