I got a HY back in the day because I was new on /fa/ and it was gaining traction as a trend, and then instantly thought it looked stupid as fuck because I have loose whitboy corkscrew curls -- but as you said, a surprisingly large amount of people were really into it.

Your other obvious option is to grow it long, but OP seems too much of a vagine for that
