Because it cuts through to who we are as humans.
It goes back to when we were cavemen
"Ooga booga my rags are color of red berries, your rags are blue. Ooga you are my enemy."
Is that any different to how the Taliban dress? And how we dress?
Is that any different then the way music scenes dress similarly?

We are just trying to find a place to call home. There is a lot more to it but let it be enough for me to call you a piece of shit have a nice day

Fortunately I have done nothing up to this point worthy of a ban :3

Still pointless as fuck. You should be able to win a girl over as long as your clothes are clean and you have deodorant.

Unless you're an insecure aspie whose autistic superpowers are ironing shirts and blazing their paychecks on clothing.

Now seriously, ¿why even dwell time on this stupid shit?

I have some tshirts, a hat, and some jeans. I've never had to feel emberressed in public with such clothing. It's clean and I'm fit so it don't matter

I don't anymore

I used to be an avid poster here, for like 3 years: laughable.
I'd defend fashion in a million different ways
>I just wear what I like
>it's comfortable
>it lasts longer
>you don't understand
>I want to look respectable
>I want to take care of my image
>I don't care how people view me, this is just how I like to dress
>I like the aesthetic/art of clothing
>it inspires me/makes me feel a certain way

and more contradictions/absurdness

I don't have anything against /fa/ or fashion now, but the game does get old, and some of you will eventually realize that this adaptation is a culture (/fa/ is a fashion niche, internet based forum/culture, it's exposer is not half as big as it thinks it is and it doesn't move/progress as quickly as most places with the exception of certain, highly popular themes/products/concepts) , and you adopt it either because it is local to you (have a bunch of friends that wear rick, live in big city, go to nice highschool/college) or you don't and you're just emulating a life while pushing your own local culture further away.

I just click on this board now because it's automatic for me when I get home.

yeah, like I was saying, you create your own reality, and the responses from others will follow. if your reality is clothing based, you'll look at yourself through a narrow little tube and never make improvements on many other less obvious aspects of your life that are lacking, because they're not visible.

you might think this is all just fun and entertaining, or it's your "passion", but it's much more likely that something is really wrong with you if you are spending hours online looking at clothes, waiting for deliveries, posting here, etc. Eventually you'll look back and think 'why did I waste my youth trying to look pretty? I could have done something'.

For me, I bought a motorcycle. I come back here after a month of being obsessed with riding my bike and having fun, and think why the fuck did I care about this shit?

I spend a lot of time thinking about /fa/. Most of the people where I live put zero effort in, and the ones that do are dressing to conform to a subculture, aka, they're trendy in their own way, but doing nothing new.

I guess I get a bit excited when I see someone that's decided to be a bit /fa/.

The combination of 'challenging' the general apathy towards the creative individual pursuit, mixed with competition for individualism in a world that shares its subcultures, its prevailing trends, its avant guard with swift ruthlessness.

I want to express, I want to decide.

Le fuck you
Lol jk, but in all seriousness it's true. It's human condition to belong to a group. Why is Rick circle jerked here? Why do I see people in public dressing like each other? Whether they are friends or siblings?

It manifests itself in different ways and obviously there are exceptions to this, but nature follows this.

For people like that motorcycle guy that just posted above me, a certain awareness comes when you are immersed in it for a long time. At one point you gain close to complete control over the thought that goes into your style and then you can do whatever you want. Even say"fuck it, I'll dress however"

Secondly fuck you, post a fit bitch

I feel like we're on the same page. Humans are essentially tribal creatures with 'in groups'. I live in a city. I spend 40 hours a week indoors working, the remaining time is spent at the gym, making music at home, and reading books and the net. I see my friends once every few weeks. Everyone is so busy. I don't belong any where. I don't have a big family, I don't have a church, a community, a local culture. Kids don't come out and play anymore. Its all on line. Vapid connections for a disconnected world.

I'm not alone. Millions out there congregate online in communal spaces based around interests in an attempt to emulate the tribe. So I come here, and I go on fit, and I head over to my subreddits. Never satisfied. Always hungry for real connection.

But the kids don't come out and play anymore.

I think your problem here is that you only focused on clothing while ignoring other aspects of your life. For me spending cash on clothing isn't that big since all my other hobbies are free or cost very little cash, however when I do want to get something else I just go on a cop freeze for a month or two to save up for it.

People will keep self medicating there joylessness with consumerism.

I know the truth yet I still do it.

I'm currently midway through a two year plan. Another 18 months of working and saving, then hopefully backpacking for a year and doing nothing but spending time with Earths people. In the mean time I'm trying to find more friends locally / clubs / etc..

I read a book about psychology (sorta) and reality and semantics and consciousness and who knwos what else, it's more of a popsci book, but the whole tribal thing isn't just a maybe, it's a definite. we've been social for tens of millions of years, we're hard wired to see others as enemies, friends, food, sex, predator, or neutral environment.

when you accept or are even just viewing clothing as an interpretation of tribal standard (ew he dresses poorly oh he dresses well) it's a good thing. you're doing what nature intended, creating bonds and barriers. the problem is that we're using clothing /too/ much as the medium for social definition, while there are so many other much more vital things to consider before bonding/denying another man/woman.

Yeah, if you dress nicely, odds are you and that neckbeard who wears fat osiris shoes and walmart jeans, won't connect very well.
but if you expect clothes to really be the end all to defining you're "tribe", you will undoubtedly find yourself in a crowd of posers with no real life skill/experience, which is the purpose of defining tribal boundaries.

this shit stretches far beyond clothing. sexual taboo, law, morality, all the things that keep our society stable enough to be around for us to wake up peacefully tomorrow to an alarm, and not some convict raping us with our telephone cords around our necks.
