You can't really dress the same way as winter techwear. Maybe a shell when it's not that hot otherwise you'll burn up. Many of the big techwear brands Veilance, Outlier have some very nice button downs that are semi water repellent I think, which is what I would recommend. Also many of the stores have Blazers which is perfect since they are very light and and pretty breathable. Hope this helped

Summer tech is actually very simple: light, tough, wicking fabrics, in form factors that balance skin coverage and airflow. Usually, merino in the city and polyester at the beach, for abrasion resistance and dry times. Somehow, tools to schlep your stuff and whatever other functions you need.

Here's a quick city fit I did up that's very similar to my summer uniform.

Yeah, but no, and really no. There are people actually doing things where clothing can really help, and even for most randoms, there's valid reasons to dress in this style that only the most snobbish could dismiss.

It's complicated; I'll post more on it later.

>>8332510
You need to contextualize the garment in a way that makes it look like what you admire is competence and capability as abstract virtues and not militarism per se.

This is easier with older garments, non-camouflage garments, and garments not common in your area. Also much easier with legit OG gear than with tacticool extravagances marketed to civilians.

Everything is summer friendly. More often than not, it is better to have fabrics covering your body than it is to have exposed skin.

After extended time in the sun, your skin becomes hot, and so do you. By having an external layer that wicks and breathes, you can actually have a cooling sensation on your skin rather than your sweat trying to fight the heat of direct sunlight.

Look into treatments with sun reflecting and UPF tech like Coldblack by Schoeller or basically anything lightweight (~150g) wool. Wool/poly blends are also good because it retains the wicking factor of the wool and allows it to dry quicker when needed.

Pic related - moisture wicking jacket that has a high UPF rating, etc. Also packable!

You have a couple of choices.... none of which are cropped, though. You would have to hem them.

Personal choice would be the Outlier Slim Dungs, because I have them, and they are fucking awesome. Basically look like jeans. http://shop.outlier.cc/shop/retail/slim-dungarees.html

Second choice would be Outlier Climbers.http://shop.outlier.cc/shop/retail/the-climbers.html

Third choice would be Proof NY Nomad Pants. http://proofny.com/collections/bottoms/products/nomad-pants

Fourth choice would be something from swrve like the lightweight slim trousers: http://swrve.myshopify.com/products/lightweight-slim-trousers

All 4 of these are made of some sort of durable nylon material with a DWR treatment applied. The Slim Dungs are made of Cordura-grade fabric, which will take a significant beating.

What are you on about? What actually *is* your definition of techwear? What's your conceptual basis for it?

Where do you get the idea that Acronym is "nearly useless?" Have you handled any Acronym, or, fuck, even scrutinized videos and JPEGs? They're at minimum no less useful than anything by an outdoor brand, and sometimes more.

"Overpriced" is so relative as to be meaningless. "Only looks good on asians" is some Elliot Rodger type shit.

And really, the "made for tactical gear" stuff is the cancer on techwear, the real bullshit angle on it, ineffectual men dressing up like reprehensible but efficacious ones to get a quantum of their experience without any cost, risk, or trauma. The ONLY thing you can say against Acronym is the ways it rubs up against a tacticool aesthetic in some ways.

Congrats; you've gotten me to restart a wall of text post trying to figure out an actual definition of techwear that works with all the ways its used.

Dont worry bitch-tits, as long as walmart tells you you're only a large, you dont have a weight problem... even if your waist is 52", and you wouldnt be able to fit in 3XL sold in a non-insane country.

This is what 3 guys of /fa/ are saying looks fine, and i'm just a faggot for not being fat enough, or wearing enough sweaters under.
This is the current state of /fa/...God help us all.

I think i'll continue to wear my XS TAD ranger jacket, with my XS AA hoodie underneath. Apparently i'm some biological anomaly who does NOT need 6" of extra circumference to insulate my softshell. Or more likely, /fa/ is full of fat fucks who really are fooled by the vanity sizing mentioned earlier.

The thing with wearable tech isn't that it's niche, or that it's not available, it's that most of the thinking going into it is straight garbage that has more to do with aping old sci-fi fantasies and turning people into revenue sources than with the way people actually live.

Google Glass is probably the most obvious example - sure, it's cool, and there's tons of situations where a HUD with a camera and network connection are useful - to generalize, in rapidly changing situations requiring constant, immediate reactions to a large set of complex variables. Time-critical. Mission-critical. Piloting. Combat.

Daily life, unlike movies or video games, is not like that for most people. More essential than staying constantly apprised of everything going on is *not* - instead holding steady, active and reflective focus on a single problem with a deadline measured, maybe, in hours, if not more. Or, you know, just relaxing and being human.

The basic Glass approach works directly against that - they want to push information on you for you to interact with as rapidly as possible, because they make money when you do. Do you really want ads and Yelp reviews fed to you as you walk down the street? Or to see every message from every rando who you've given your number to pop up as soon as they send it?

Like, c.f. everything anyone's written since 2007 about disconnection being the new luxury. Or everything anyone's written since ever about presence and mindfulness.

Smart watches are less pernicious, because they're less developed, but they suffer from the same conceptual problem. A good workaround with superior ergonomics I'd like to see? Something adapted from watch zips, pic related. Instead of opening onto a watch, it opens onto a compartment where a full smartphone is secured, and you can access everything when and only when you need to. You could do it inelegantly now with a strapon case.

Come on, it's obvious you don't understand anything and you're the same guy always pouting in these threads. The problem with TAD stuff is that it looks like PMC gear, not that it performs adequately for them and is slightly expensive.

Like the other guy pointed out, the TAD jacket in question isn't Gore-Tex and I don't think TAD even does hardshells.

Bodies are bodies and performance is performance. In terms of personal climate, the factors are the same whether you're biking or shooting your way through a city.

As far as "needing:" people have biked through cities in jeans and fought wars in terrible cotton poplin BDUs. This is all about doing your life better with the help of clothes.

The ideas around cosplay, militarism, etc. are worth addressing, have been by people smarter than you are I although not to death, but whining about cost is completely unproductive, as it usually is. Acting like everyone leads your lifestyle is also completely unproductive, as it always is.

>>8338843
Ignore the people telling you it's not possible to be tech on a budget. Some flavors and the famous statement pieces might not be, but it's all in how useful the garments are to you and how you style them to show or conceal it.

>>8338871
Like this, the distinction is in the totality of design, styling, and context. Hard and fast rules about whether something is or isn't "techwear" miss the point,

>>8334420

which I will get to, but I've got other stuff I need to write. Just dropping in for this because this thread was getting too ridiculous.

>>8344568
Oh, and this guy is def far more in the right. Shells do go over, but Kitanica is just thoroughly ridiculous. I can almost respect their commitment to loading the fuck out of their jackets, but it's just another part of adding bizarre Tacticool details like the buckles across the chest. Aesthetically, they're to LEAF or TAD like YesStyle is to Rick.
