Lol what? Please lurk more before telling people shit.

1) Hardshell - full waterproof - pants are extremely common. Virtually every outdoor brand makes them. Here's Patagonia's entry-level one.

http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/mens-torrentshell-waterproof-rain-pants?p=83811-0

2) They're usually unnecessary, even more often than full waterproof jackets. Softshell - highly water resistant, much more breathable (trap less sweat) - pants are almost always going to be better.

3) Tons are more than remotely fashionable. Outlier is the most famous example, just by doing standard chinos in Schoeller Dryskin, the best softshell fabric around.

I like Mission Workshop's version better, though. Just enough extra to make it actually interesting, pic related.

This thread is a trainwreck with so much that's wrong in it. I have to go, but I'll post more later.

Yeah, uh.. those are pretty much snowpants. Based on the fact that we are on /fa/, I wouldn't expect someone to want to wear fucking Patagonia pants, LOL.

Outlier isn't entry level and dryskin isn't waterproof.

The funny thing is, you own none of this, so it's obvious you have no clue what you're talking about.

>> No.8269888

>>8269810
Also, I don't agree that Dryskin is a good choice for pants. The doubleweave workcloth fabric that Outlier uses on the Dungarees is definitely a better selection for pants.

This ultimately comes down to a difference of opinion. I would say that typical outdoorsy manufacturers make "entry level techwear."

Higher end shit like Arc'tyrex, Mission, Outlier, TAD, Aether, Isoara, etc are quite a bit pricier than you'd find in nearly any store. If anything, they are mid-tier (considering things like Acronym), but difficult to classify as "entry level" by any means.

Dryskin is water resistant, but would not fair well in even light rain.

Why not?

They are goodyear welted recraftable boots with a vibram waterlock sole.

Slap some nikwax leather waterproofing on them and have a comfy ass waterproof boot that will tread through just about anything.

Or do you think that Roche Runs are techwear?

I'm honestly curious why you think they look out of place and what you would consider replacing them with?

The fit is to look decent on weather days. It rains 2-3x a week here and I can wear that outfit to the office and not have to worry about getting wet etc.

Open to suggestions.

I agree with modern materials and construction, but I don't see the correlation between needing to look like a cyberpunk.

The jacket and pants are made of enough tech to compensate for the "lack of tech" on the boots.

I can't find boots that look good that meet techwear standards and still look good, unfortunately.

That's fair, but I still haven't gotten any alternative suggestions.

At the moment, it's the best I can find that will be both usable on a trail, in the city, and at the office in any weather situation, sunny, rain, or snow.

The sneakers 99% of people post in tech threads are unusable in anything other than walking around the city in the sun.

>At the moment, it's the best I can find that will be both usable on a trail, in the city, and at the office in any weather situation, sunny, rain, or snow.

The soles have no traction for hiking, no cushioning for city walking, if you wear boots in the office they better not be beat up, they'll be sweaty in the summer, and cold and wet in the winter.

Techwear is about getting highly functional stuff that also looks good. Put away your #menswear goggles and get performance hiking/walking boots for those situations.

Why even bother posting?

You can request them with Dainite soles for hiking traction, I already stated they are vibram soled (so yes, they are cushioned), and they will be easy to clean up with some saddle soap and conditioner.

I somewhat agree that they may get sweaty, but that will be an issue with any waterproof membrane, even GoreTex. I don't agree they will be cold or wet in the summer with proper merino socks.

I also prefer to maintain a look that fits in with my crowd, which most definitely is not goofninja.

No, but for $500 boots, I want them to at least be able to dabble in a little bit of everything rather than being limited to one function.
