go get a super basic sewing book for starters. perhaps a menswear one too because most beginners ones might be aimed for at dresses/ skirts otherwise

A lot of sewing is using patterns too. you can buy these anywhere (ebay, thrift stores, sewing shops). You cut your fabric to the shapes and then sew it together. easy as fuck. as you get better you start to modify the patterns to how you like them and what you think would look cool.

Start basic and get a t-shirt pattern and some jersey and have a crack maybe.

the Pattern Magic books are meant to be amazing too. my exgf had 3 of them and highly recommended them.

>make them skinnier via the bathtub
>make them skinnier via sewing
>cut them up into a million pieces and use them to make scab jeans
>cut another pair into a million pieces and put the scraps onto these
>use bleach or smth and make a design. (not sure if I could pull this one off)

So, I had to buy some cheap shoes for floorball with mates - ended up just getting these, by a brand that is hilariously determined to shamelessly copy known mainstream designs.
I am actually kind of satisfied with them, the NB aesthetic works nicely for a ripoff.
I'd like to make them acceptable for normal wearing, which would obviously mean somehow making the gross grey parts around the ankle black. Preferably something that would make the logo hard to see, if not completely invisible as well.
What would be the best way of doing this? Just putting some tape on the black parts and spraying the grey ones?
Any advice is highly appreciated, thanks.

IMO the scabs are too sequential-looking. You want to make it seem like you wore the jeans in naturally then patched them up. I think some slightly chaotic(but well crafted out chaos) patching system would be better

This thread makes me sad, I'm a Fashion Design student and was gifted with many (and I mean it) rolls of fabric, but none of them fit my looks/personality.

I also have this bizarre creative block where I can design things for other people but not for myself. Weird shit.

I'm a heroin chic faggot who can't into tight shirts due to the child-bearing hips god chose for me. Whenever I wear tight stuff (or with adjusted waistline) people think I'm a really butch lesbian.

Knoch answered my queries on how to get started some time ago, posting for anyone interested:

>Yo! I started sewing stuff when I was like 16 I think. I just asked my mother once how to properly use a sewing machine and then just taught myself. The first thing I made were some pants for a medieval festival me and a few friends where going to. They told me on such short notice that I had to make it in about 4 hours the night before from some old linen scraps. No prior experience. After that I didn’t actually make anything until about 3 years ago. I just never cared enough, so it’s rather weird that I do nothing but sewing at the moment. No formal education for anything related. I hate reading books(on creative things) or learning from or through others so it’s mostly just autodidactism. I always just do and make things. I almost never draw anything beforehand or make sketches. Unless I have to show something to somebody else who’s working with me or interested. It’s just a lot of thinking about how things work. Instead of reading up on anything, I just looked at existing things and tried to understand how they’re made and just copied them. I think the best way to get something going is to learn the basics of sewing, how everything works, how fabric reacts, getting a feel for the medium. Then I’d research how things are made etc. Just get some old fabric and start sewing. Try to put pieces together cleanly, test out different types of seams, learn the workflow that suits you best. Then it’ll be really a lot easier to translate what you have in mind into something tangible. Thanks for the compliment btw! cheers

Ask the dude, he's really nice and responds to pretty much every question in short delay.

you've got two options

buy a pair of white sneakers
or paint them white

your other option of bleaching them will just leave them orange and weird

idk bc I've never painted anything because i know it'll look tacky. DIY colour changes works best (p much only work) when you're going to a darker shade. It'll be cheaper and just look generally nicer if you buy white sneakers and keep the navy ones as beaters/ sell them on ebay.

A simple Singer without too many features.
New is better (unless you plan on going hardcore and upgrading after a while) but used is okay too.

If you buy used, don't do it over the internet. Something as stupid as dust/lint on the inside parts is enough to make the machine not work properly, and it's gonna cost you to get it cleaned out. Just open the little window (where the bobin goes) remove everything you can with your bare hands (no unscrewing anything) and look inside. If you see lint, bad sign.

Blue to white is almost impossible unless you want to literally take the canvas apart from the rubber/foam/whatever areas.
Buy a white one.
