I figured it out myself, the trick is to fill in the lacking material without changing the previous tension of the overall material.

So you probably will interweave some supporting threads where you still have some hold, making a circle of new thread around the whole, and then go on creating a completely new layer of garnment interweaving it into the lose threads.
