there are actually a lot of decent cafes/restaurants on Rundle St (go to Ebenezer Place if you want coffee though), Gouger St has some good restaurants as well. Nightlife kinda sucks although you might be able to find something interesting depending on your tastes. Regarding clothing just give up on that in Adelaide lol

Adelaide is the worst city. There's more to see in Darwin or Mt Isa than in Adelaide.

you should go to alice springs instead there would be more to see

Botanic gardens, Zoo, Glenelg, Chinatown, Parklands (come see the locals for a bit of cultural enrichment)

Adelaide tap water is putrid, coming from a resident

Or the fucking busker that plays wonderwall everyday
Pretty much what any other australian city has to offer.

There's a bunch of good cafes on melbourne street in north adelaide like wild thyme/the store. Some good restaurants especially japanese and indian in Unley.

There's not much going on clotheswise, but there is a jap raw denim place somewhere north of the cbd.

Also if you're from out of australia I'd say spend a couple of days in mclaren vale/barossa/adelaide hills etc doing wine tastings eating stone baked pizzas etc etc. SA has pretty good wine regions.

Clothes - not a whole lot tbh. Check out RHD (Right Hand Distribution) at Clubhouse Lane (they just moved from Ebenezer pl. and might not have much stock atm). They're an amazing denim store, just opened one in melbourne. The owner Andy has a crazy knowledge on denim and will fuck your mind.
There was a great little boutique store called Hause which just closed down; it stocked lots of smaller designers and Stussy Deluxe and other good things.

Cafes - Adelaide has some great coffee. At the end of the day its just personal preference, so these are my faves: Signature (Charles St), Taste Baguette (Rundle St), Hey Jupiter (Ebenezer Pl.), Cafe l'Incontro (Gay's Arcade)(this one is more straight-up good Italian coffee, with less of an overpriced douchey alternative/hipster vibe - man am I sick of pretentious cafes who charge $4 for a single shot coffee)

Restaurants - what are you into? Too big of a pool to recommend unless I know what you're into. One place I was recently very impressed by tho was Gin Long Canteen in Nth Adelaide. It has a S.E. Asian fusion feel; very clean, fresh and sharp flavours, think lime and chilli.

If you're into food, check out the Central Market on a weekend morning, there's lots of fresh, local produce & smallgoods and its in Chinatown. Also decent cafes in the market.

Man, there's a lot of people shitting on Adelaide, way to have a glass half full. Sure, it doesn't have much going on all the time, but its a real nice place to live, and IMO if you enjoy the smaller things its great; beautiful scenery, food, wine around the place. Where are you from?

Wow, thanks for the ridiculously good input. I'll be sure to check out RHD and look into the japanese denim place mentioned above. Cafe suggestions look excellent, and one of my friends has actually said really good things about Hey Jupiter in particular. I'm not particularly into my food so I'm not too concerned about restaurants.

(RHD is the Japanese denim place, they also stock denim from the US and europe tho)

Well Melbourne is essentially like a bigger/better version of Adelaide. If you're into footy like me, you should check out the newly developed Adelaide Oval, Crows are playing GWS on Sunday. It's a really beautiful ground with amazing architecture.

No interest in the sport myself to be honest. It's a shame the clothing scene seems so dead, might give Hype DC and such a look just for the sake of it.

Different Adelaide anon, I'll give input on a couple of bars (I'm not really into clubbing/night scene but there are a couple of nice places for evening drinks with work colleagues):
Little Miss Mexico is a popup bar that's open for a couple more weeks on Grenfell St. Has nice atmosphere and Mexican themed food along with booze.
Around the corner is Little Miss Miami (same deal but American, haven't been there but is nice apparently)
On Rundle Street (right next to Grenfell) there's the Belgian Beer Cafe (fukn expensive but some nice novelty import beers/drinks). The Exeter is a bit grungy and hipster-ish but it's got lots of places to sit and talk and if you're /fa/ you'll fit right in :^)
Lemongrass is a nice and cheap restaurant if you're on Rundle Street. Note Rundle Street is different to Rundle Mall- Rundle Mall is the no-cars mall strip with the balls, Rundle Street is across the road where Hungry Jack's/Target is. Honestly, anywhere down Rundle Street or Melbourne Street is good.

he's actually right somewhat
adelaide is a literal hole
