the patent leather scared me off at first too. (I wanted the light grey colourway) But after wearing them, the patent leather gives them a kind of flare that contrasts with the decaying look of the soles. Also, the patent ones don't get the "destroyed" look, so I'm okay with that.

my 17yr old little step-brother has them and i tried them on when i was visiting my family for x-mas and they are VERY comfortable, but like you said im not entirely sure if they look too weird, they might look perfect for a lunarcore or techware fit idk :/ but if you can find them for cheap on ebay or something then why not i guess
