Selvedge- "self edge" - the fabric is made in a way that gives it a nice edge, so when you cuff it, it will look nicer and also the edges won't wear as badly

Raw- unwashed when you buy it. full of fabric dye waiting to be washed out or left in ready to fade according to how you wear the jeans out.
