Does /fa/ wear a watch?

Post your watch in this thread.

Discuss what you like about it.

Pic related, it's my watch. As you can see, it's seen some strife in its time. I like it because it's durable and versatile, it can be worn with formal and casual outfits.

it looks good, how do you like the leather? I assume you only have to clean the steel part of the watch because the leather absorbs the moisture so it doesnt build up grime like these steel ones.

I've got this local flee market that always has tonnes of people selling vintage watches. Lots of old watches that don't look at the top of their game. Usually around 60-70USD each. I was thinking of buying one I think looks nice and maybe getting it cleaned/restored and throwing a nice new band on. Saw lots of Seiko 5's, Tissot, Orient, and a few random Russian watches.

im not expert but
Ideal situation is if you go have a look and are able to look up online whats what because though theres some general stuff to look out for like everything moving smoothly/ not feeling too loose, many brands hav specific things you have to look out for. For example with russian 24h raketas there are a lot of fakes out there where a 12 h date movement has been modified to work with a 24h face.

But specific little things like that take a bit a research to find out.
If you find a nice looking watch that isnt too beat up and is running smoothly seems like a not bad plan. check out just some ballpark on how much to restore an average watch b/c you might just be better off buying new.

On mechanicals it might help if you can open the back to see the guts and how well they're maintained

Most recent cop and I love it, get more complements on it than any of my other watches too. Wish the build quality was better though, and it's surprisingly inaccurate for a quartz movement (+5 seconds a day).

You can certainly dress it up a little bit, but it's hard to match black and brown. Certainly not how you have it. You could go for a lighter more casual brown, but I'd stick to black leather with white stitching if preferred. The flatter non-padded leather without rounded edges looks best. Metal rivets like in traditional pilot watchbands are cool too. You can also buy a wider strap and cut notches off the end to fit as well.

Yeah, that and several other Casio models seem to be only carried in Europe however.

Got this from my father sometthing like 14 years ago. The original leather strap broke years ago, and at the time I was in the military so I bought a rubber one, should really buy a new leather strap...
