Well it's mostly out of curiosity. I want a number, the "proper" number.

Obviously I will wear the shoes and see what's comfortable, but I'd like a measured baseline instead of just guessing between three or four numbers.

People get their body professionally measured to get a good-fitting suit instead of just using trial and error, so why not shoes?

Well, you might consider Naked and Famous Super Skinny guys. They have a fairly short inseam compared to the skinny guy, 33/34 as opposed to 37, and they taper from the knee down, usually to a 6.5 inch opening. Or would you prefer a smaller opening?
