diff anon but I also got that bag but in white. the metal loop for the leather strips you gotta put them through the hole then strip through that metal loops thing. it's kinda annoying but I gotten used to it. My only annoyance is that one of the leather strips on mine is thicker than the other so one looks worn while the other looks fine. But overall, it's a tough bag, but it absorbs everything from liquid/stains/odors and doesn't let it go. I don't like it.
