Sadly (in a way) cities outside Wilno are slowly dying, now only old people and top bydło still live there. Salaries in Wilno (where I lived) are more or less comparable with Poland though (maybe a little higher in LT given recent statistics). I'm actually a New Zealander though, so Lithuania isn't native to me. But I fell in love with that region of the world (Baltics and Višegrad Group), and will return one day when I have more work experience.

Nightlife is ok, not a fan of the clubs though, but there's some pretty good pubs and bars. DO NOT GO INTO "Den Hvide Hest" Also known as the white horse. Neo nazi hangout, other than that.

Shopping in Aarhus is pretty great, I'd go as fat as to say its better than copenhagen. Unless you low on the dough ofcourse. This is not a cheap place to live.

there's a few festivals but all in all whenever there's anything going on you're supposed to be drunk so that's great.

Do you know where you will be living? Because they tend to stick foreign exchange students out in the western part of the city, if that happens you're fucked, it's horrible.

I'm English and on exchange. Nothing's cheap save for budget supermarkets in certain cases. Anything service related (haircut salons, restaurants) are fucking expensive.

Other than that, everyone is pretty /fa/. Great nightlife, city shuts down after 9 Sunday-Thursday though. I haven't really found any "fashion-related clubs", and as far as cool shops go there are quite a few, but again, quite expensive as well.

Oh yeah, and opiates are cheaper than alcohol here.
