tokyo is really good, the only reason it's not considered as one of the "big" ones is b/c so many of their designers don't bother leaving japan, there is good enough of a market in japan so they don't give a shit and just do their thing within japan and so not alot of people know about it

if you took away the names of the cities and looked at each fashion week just through the collections themselves it would be obvious that tokyo is way, way up there - on par if not above the european cities when it comes to innovation and creativity

New York is great. Especially if you love smog, trash and harried people. Fashionable people are everywhere. NY fashion has "distinct flavors " and an individualistic flair you're not likely to find in Europe, it's very much an acquired taste much like the place itself. If that's your thing then New York is the perfect place for you.

I remember a thread where people'd describe looks were native in their respective towns/cities and many people seemed to think a certain look was overdone and/or very common, New York isn't like that as whole. It's a veritable smorgasbord of styles.

I'm signing for a National Student Exchange and if the school is in an "effay" location matters to me (eg music, places to go, 'culture', architecture). I'm at Rutgers which is great for my major but boring, oh so boring, and I don't like the culture. How is Seattle? I've mentioned it on /fa/ before and people said it was lame but when I went there it seemed amazing, there was a music festival going on, great coffee, perfect rainy weather, nice shops, open markets. It seemed like a less trapped/hectic and more White NYC. Anyway UW Seattle is my first choice, does anyone know of other Unis in good locations? I'd be spending my sophomore yr there

It's not exactly downtown, but it is a bus away from downtown, capitol hill, and fremont (all pretty cool locations as well)
In the U district there is a lot of crime (so watch yo shit, don't even leave it to go to the bathroom) and there is the Ave, which is a huge line of shops and such right by UW

Not a lot of /fa/ people there though (like most Unis i think, people tend to wear comfy-core)

What you're talking about is CdG's PLAY line, a line started to bankroll the rest of the CdG universe, which has like over 20 different lines and 4 - 5 different designers. CdG has been around the 70 / 80s and the impact it's had on fashion is absolutely substantial. If had a big impact on the future generation of designers in the latter half of the 20th century (Eg. The Belgian Designers @ Antwerp 6 / Raf, Helmut. etc/) and pretty much influenced a huge part of Japanese streetwear brands in the 90s and early 20s when they were starting up.

I'm not bothering to grab pics and try to prove to you something that is so obvious and fact

You're obviously just not familiar with the works of these designers at all

If you want to stay stupid then fine whatever not my duty to educate retards

You win good for you

You already bothered to post pictures and explained the stupidity of someone who thought play = cdg.

I think you're just hardpressed to explain yourself.

And if it's so "obvious and fact", then surely you can find someone other than yourself insisting it's true.

This entire time your argument has been this sort of autismal "WELL YEAH??? GIVE ME SPECIFIC 1:1 PICTURES AND EXACT EXAMPLES OF INDIVIDUAL PIECES OF CLOTHING THAT WAS INFLUENCED BY THE JAPANESE"

It really just feels like you caught feelings somewhere and aren't even actually trying to argue, just trying to save face or something or tell yourself you're right because I'm not doing ^

>Antwerp 6 + Margiela were students in 1980
>Yohji and Rei debut in Paris in 1981
>Huge revolution, fashion movement
>Antwerp 6 make trips to Paris, access shows by sneaking in, stealing, copying tickets
>5 years later they make official debut

To say that they didn't get any ideas to translate into their own work from such a powerful avant garde revolution is just plain retarded and stubborn.

> if it's so "obvious and fact", then surely you can find someone other than yourself insisting it's true.

If you're still in denial after this you're just retarded.

Go up to anyone who knows anything about fashion history and tell them that the Antwerp 6 was not influenced by the Japanese in Paris and they will laugh in your face.

Right back at you. It should be really easy if it's so "obvious and fact", but you would rather spend twice as much time defending the fact that you refuse to point out marks of influence when you could sooner do just that.

Did you even read this article?

>Although designers such as Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo carried a huge influence, the Antwerp Six were undoubtedly the main sources of inspiration for many of fashion’s major players, and changed the landscape of fashion as we know it.
They aren't saying Yohji and Rei influenced the Six specifically. They're talking about their influence on the whole industry.
