>inb4 wolverines those cost like 100 more.
skip the wolves m8, they may be more expensive but:

leather soles = less durable = resole around the corner (not cheap comparatively speaking),

more fragile leather which though nice isn't for a boot of that styling - innumerable instances of qc issues with wolves compared with redwing, + redwing have their own tannery = better leather qc compared ro wolves, who in all likelihood buy cxl low tier.

Qc issues with wolve construction on general more prevalent in internet discussions compared with rw

wolverine cheaped out with an integral point lf construction : the insole, which is essentially a fancy cardboard
rw still use good old fashioned tried and tested leather insoles for heritage line

only reason makers switch to fibreboard is because cheaper eg allen edmonds (cept due to pressure are swapping back to leather)

for all these points rw heritage line boots are steal compared to the 1k mile, and if you're usa revole 30% off makes them so cheap (210$)

get the ir or even the beck and be done with pseudo work boots forever you flaming homosex

that is until your thirst makes you hop on the current sufu bandwagon for vibergs like puss puss you are

If you like them, sure (unless you have twig legs and size 11+ feet with a low instep - then you might want to reconsider)

This thread has turned into typical /fa/ mudslinging but I'll throw my two cents at you.

The long and short of it is that the IR remain rooted to a more rugged 'working' look while the 1000 miles are significantly more dressy. I've had both (black 1000 mile, tan IR) and I only kept my IR's. Much easier to wear without looking overdressed.

>>7787928
This guy is right too, the entire construction of the 1000 mile felt thinner and less robust.

I disagree

I don't think it's pathetic to try to differentiate yourself from other people -- it's not the highest of aspirations, sure, but it's natural enough. I don't buy into the whole "you are not a special snowflake" bullshit that 4chan has been pushing for years, I think it's a sad excuse to stop trying to be interesting.

I'm not saying that the desire for differentiation alone makes you any different, but there's something noble about wanting to have a unique and valid perspective. We can't all achieve it, but it's good to at least try; to "stress the power of the individual", as Martin Amis put it. Maybe I'm not going to contribute to the world in any meaningful way, but I'm at least not going to wear the same fucking boots as everyone else who posts in the same internet community as I do.

it doesn't much phase me that you think it's pathetic -- of course you would. your own wardrobe reeks of "dressed by the internet", except in the few pieces where it hopelessly fails (eg the blue dbss that you can't make to work with anything), and you have absolute contempt for everything you don't agree with

and in general I don't much care for the opinions of people who don't see how looking like a skinhead is a bad thing

but even if I didn't think your take on fashion was laughable, it wouldn't change my opinion of your contempt for any attempt to be different. I think "individuality", though its reputation has been tarnished, is still a good aim.

for what do you need citation shitbull?

red wing do have their own tannery
wolve do not
rw have a more intimate connection with their leather because of such like you and your mumsies

anecdotal: more complaints about wolverine leather and constuction on all fashion forums like SF, sufufuf and even those leddit fagogts despite both rw heritage and 1k's bein very popular

perhaps those buying 1k's more more discerning than those buying more rugged rw heri?
dunno
problems seen with 1k miles = leather qc issues

horween tannery that make cxl have varying grades - top used by estmeed shoemakers worldwide

low used by places like wolve et.al.

wolves fault for being cheap, their clicking process not cutting the bad leather out

more bad leather cut out = waste = gotta pay for more leather

they're trying to scrounge as much as possible out of a single hide

better makers cut out poorer parts of the hide, part of their qc

concerning insole: note that the 1k mile is more comfy initially compared to IR et.al

note that footbed of 1k is slightly more cushioned whereas IR is rockhard like that cock in your coit

real leather isn't as

also this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aun1-O0SgsI&t=1m33s

note the black insole - def not leather insole - some kind of synthetic composite material

rw production = leather insole see pic

fibreboard not bad but will need replacing more often than leather insole

lower-mid to top shoemakers in the world only use leather insoles. even loake, lowest uk shoemaker, only uses fibreboard/composite for lower tiers - their higher range 1880 only use leather

fibreboard will absorb all that sweat from your rancid monkey toes and will eventually crumble, leather insole will take 20-30 years to crumble the same way - sooner if your sweat is super rank

cheap boots but on principle rw are better made

this is the same argument i hear against red wings

the thing is, yeah, red wings are popular on the internet, but i barely see them IRL. I've been to many cities and places and I've only seen a couple of RW and like 1 1000 Mile Boots

the only hyped boot that people actually wear is DBs, i see a lot in college

so its even worse that you think this way, because its not like you don't wanna look like others IRL, you don't want to look like other people you'll never meet IRL

>real leather isn't as
forgive my unclarity plz rape my face

i mean that leather insole are hard
hard as a fat man who's heard the icecream truck

synthetics are generally softer (but not all, and it might just be a cushioned footbed)

in the end it doesn;t really matter, you'll probably get sick of whatever you buy within a few short years anyway

fuccboi

and when you get the wolves leather soles resoled by wolverin they might do a total overhaul and replace the insole too

maybe

but it's not like it's gonna fall apart by next year

outsole, yeah, fucking leather
but not the insole

but like i said it's the principle of the matter, and at least red wang didn't decide cheap out on a fundamental of shoe construction

however, 1k's have better profile than rw's

but that's not by much

if you want better, slimmer, lower profile have to pay more

a lot more

is 50+ leather hassles and resole hassles worth a marginally slimmer toebox?

might be worth it for some, maybe not for others

either way the 1k's have a plain toe so get that fugly midvamp crease (like the beckman rw)

at least captoed shoes break up the crease
less ugly
less noticeable

if you're a poorish fuccboish and you have to buy one burly fakeworkboot because you want to be a big burlish man then red wang, chipps, then thoroughbad

wolves don't figure into it

in the end: buy whatever now

not like in 10yrs you're gonna be wearing it

It's now just about RW, but all boots inspired by classic work boots.

It's a silly claim anyway and based on pure semantics ("hurrr i play stupid and assume "work boots" mean modern safety boots"). Pic related, what real, modern work boots look like. They're not exactly the same as they were back then.

They're a "fake" work boot because no one, and I mean no one, who actually does "work" wears Red Wing Heritage and especially not Wolverine's 1k's.

They wear RW's or Wolve's work wear line.

The only people that buy RW heritage are people that want the american worker image.

It's a fashion, and these are fashion boots and are in no way suited to real work today compared to what is used. They are for the most part bought by poseurs that have never done any heavy lifting in their lives. Hence I guess why they're "fake" work boots. Not necessarily the boots themselves, but the poseurs that buy them.
