I used custom ink once. I had no complaints. I think most places use the same techniques anyway, so maybe it's more about price/wanting to help a local business out. I could also be really wrong though so...

Maybe go local and buy in bulk, they could give you a good deal/help you out later on if you ever want to get bigger etc.

There's a good chance it'd be better to cut out the middleman & just screen print shirts yourself

$40 seems like a lot. I guarantee there is a way to do it for more like $25, you just have to look around, maybe call people, and its going to end up with you ordering a BUNCH of shirts before you start selling

I got a run of 20 shirts from Custom Ink for a sample of a design I was working on. The quality is pretty good I suppose. I hate the 2 week shipping time though.
