>with a water resistance rating of 50M+

If you're planning on diving with a watch rated to 50m, don't. The only watches acceptable for diving are ones compliant with ISO 6425.

If you're not planning on diving with it, you don't need a watch that's waterproof to 50m.

i'm not diving, I just don't want a watch I'm not comfortable bathing or showering with, which I'm not with a watch that is only 3bar.

Whoa holy shit. My dad has the exact same watch OP. It's like 30+ yo.

I advise against bathing and showering with a 50m proof watch. Steam will get in the case if it's not a very good waterproof sealing and a screw down crown.

Isn't the Seiko 5 line supposed to be 5atm (50m) resistant?

Why can't you just fucking remove the watch when you shower?

I shower with my watches after a dive, watersports, or when it gets dirty. It is advisable to rinse off a watch especially after diving in saltwater. If you are crawling along the seafloor or something, some sand can accumulate along the bezel and bracelet. So you gotta rinse that off too.

Of course, all of this applies to watches with a screw down crown and with 150+M of water resistance.
