what kind of pattern growth do i need for a samurai bun? i have medium curls (say 1-1.5" in diameter) and wanna grow into the samurai bun, but am not sure what parts need to stay short and what stays long. maintenance shouldnt be a problem as ill be getting volume taken out pretty regularly (i go jew-fro otherweise). also, and i know this is a stretch, but is there a cut that would look good while i grow the hair to the desired length? i think i need about 7" and can do maybe a little over an inch a month, at 2.5" right now.

I use hydrating 2 in 1 Aussie shampoo, then I wake up and let my hair dry with a towel, then some shaking, and some time to dry (no hair dryer). After that, I use matte paste for the sides (American Crew) and some kind of shiny paste from Aussie for the front. not considering waiting time which is breakfast or driving time, it takes 1 minute.
