i don't have anything against fakes. the only problem related to them is that, since they're cheaper, they are more prone to being bought and worn by style-less fuccbois. so when they have "geobaskets" being worn with their cheap outfit it's easy to deduce that the shoes have to be fake.

basically, if someone has the style to pull off real geos, then they can wear fakes no problem and no one will be able to tell.

I have seen a lot of Rick in real life. I have put it on... Many pieces are unwearable in public.

Okay, not true. It's WEARABLE, but pretty strange (for example the skirts), and personally I prefer casual inoffensive style. Once I have run out of things to buy I will probably get the STANDARD Rick uniform... Earthy color long tee, black sweatpants, long black hoody, dunks... But I don't think I'd really venture too far into it.

Depending on which store you go to, you will encounter different "types" of Rick. As an example, I live in London, if you go to Selfridges, all the Rick Owens stuff is extremely wearable and not OTT... However if you were to go to Dover Street Market you would begin seeing the skirts and weird-feeling leathers.

Also I am actually quite certain that if A$AP Rocky didn't do that song, Rick and Raf wouldn't be such a meme worshipped thing here. Almost 100% positive.

Calling Rick unwearable is just an admission of a lack of perspective. The womenswear is rooted in couture and neoclassicism and the menswear just follows suite. DRKSHDW is a combination of punk, metal, and hip hop uniforms in sturdier fabrications.

Rick's look has been *endlessly* copied, especially in womenswear where now literally everyone is doing the wrapped cardigans, the biker jackets, Levi's has aped DRKSHDW's denim washes and literally every women's label now does some piss attempt at bias jersey, at every level of the industry.

If you don't realize that Rick's aesthetic, defanged and sterilized though it may be, has taken over the fashion world, you need to close your browser and get the fuck outside.

I hear you on that philosophy. I graduated already, but I remember how it was when everyones wearing uggs and northface and sperry's and the neckbeards and etc.

Hedi is a mad genius, his pricing, his marketing, his aesthetic. He's a great judge of selling the shit he knows people will actually want. That being said I think the collections / runways he did for dior were better. them jeans incredible though.

you're mis-interpreting I think. They were never.. As designers and following the lead of mmm and helmut (and probably others) they moved away from that aesthetic. They all had unique high fashion aesthetics

Thanks for the interesting information, but in terms of proving a point you've done nothing. Also, just so you know, people say mainline Rick is unwearable not DRKSHDW which is far far far more acceptable to walk around town in.

Is rick your secret club or something? Most of the people I see posting in Rick make it look at least decent.

The statistic is made up, someone else just said it before me and it made me laugh bc of the old 1% /pol/ joke when obviously its a much broader stretch than just 1%..

The way i'm judging (and im assuming others are using the same heuristic) is through how many people say they don't own rick and how many people in the waywts dress like fuccbois w 'poorninja' stuff and how many newfags there are on this board in general.

How can you say it's a poor representation of the board?

Its the only representation of the board

What have you seen from this board that shows it contains better dressed people than the average WAYWT poster?

The stuff you see in all the staple threads like Recent cops and such all contain the same general goods that the WAYWT threads contain. I'd say the people that post in those threads make up the general demographic of /fa/ browsers, with excellent anons being the black sheep

The Waywts are very accurate representations of the board. The board is in general, extremely divided in taste, constantly full of shitposting, full of ignorance, and with the odd gem that shines through

I'd say that also perfectly describes a WAYWT here

>> No.7687877

i agree that waywt is the only representation aside from recent cops. A lot of the other stuff is daily fluff and stupid arguments.

I generally dont mind aesthetic threads (interior design, the rare architecture threads, etc) but the "what is le most effay ____" threads are shit.

I like this place more than places like sufu because when its on its great. You can get really critical discussions and not have to worry about poster dickriding i.e. most of sufu.

I agree with you whole heartedly. But I also fucking hate those Asian cunt faces who just continually harass users as if it is their full time job, and you can so tell they are Asian with their anime display pics - I've seen those screen shots of them giving neg reps 100x to the same user. I'm Asian myself and I want to stab them in the face. Sorry about the tangent, but they are so pathetic. (I do like derk though)

That moment when someone on the street catches you mirin part of their fit, like Ricks etc. and they know exactly why you're staring, and you see that smug look crawl across their face.

It's happened multiple times. I feel I shouldn't feed their egoes, but it gives me a sense of superiority too as we share in our mutual acknowledgment of perceived fashion elitism. And I know I like it when people notice my fits.
