SoHo is way to crowded these days. Winter is usually a bit better, but all the layers make it hard to try on clothing.

Machus is my favorite store in Portland. It's the only store that carries any avant garde clothing. Everywhere else is muh lumberjack heritage as far as the eye can see.

There's also Carhartt, the 2 Acne stores, and a place called Bau Bau that sells 2nd hand goof stuff (gotten a lot of Rick and seen some MMM and SLP shoes there) in N?rrebro. I know. I only stop in at Jazzmans and a few other places during the Maxwell Street Days to see if I can find some deals but there's hardly anything worth the price. If I had the capital and the contacts I'd almost think about opening a boutique but Madison's not big, nor is the city fashion conscious enough.

While limited, I do like Contexts' denim and leather good selection. Not really comparable to that that can be found in brick & mortars down in Chicago but you take what you can get here in this part of the Midwest.
