What i meant about the rivets is that they have no structural reason for being there, they're purely decorative which annoys me. I like minimal but durable watches, especially ones that can be worn both formally and casually!

What? You are denying yourself of a few excellent dive watches.

In any case, the cheapest you should go is for a Vostok Amphibia, which is actually a legit diving watch. Other people here have mentioned the Orient Mako--I've used this for diving and it's done the job perfectly. An alternative to that is the Orient Ray.

You can also look at the Bulova Marine Star. Don't worry about the quartz movement, the watch itself is quite reliable. You should also take a look at the ESQ Tournament.

Skagen watches have nice designs, but that's about it. They're essentially disposable watches. If you're really a poorfag, you should be buying a GOOD watch that you won't ever have to replace. Save your money. Alternatively, the Seiko 5 series is in the same pricepoint and of pretty exceptional quality, although their designs are a bit more conservative.

Daniel Wellington is even worse. There's an infographic about it somewhere out there. Basically, these are all fashion companies rather than true watchmakers. All of those watches have the same shitty .5 euro movement inside of them.

That said, if you're looking for a minimalist design like that, that Skagen is your only real option at this price point. Citizen (an excellent company) makes some similar looking watches, but they're more expensive and always at least have a day/date complication.

What does everyone think of 'smart watches'?
Will they be relevant as time pieces in the next few years or will we have to wait a decade?
I've been thinking of getting the galaxy gear for day to day use since its practical as fuck, but I just dont know about them yet.

These things are made with eventual obsolescence in mind. If you're wealthy and that money's not going anywhere soon, go for it, especially if you don't care about tossing an expensive consumer electronic in the bin in a couple of years. I plan on saving some expendable cash for an heirloom watch instead.

Get a watch with a Pepsi bezel. Check out the Orient Pepsi Mako, or the Seiko Sea Urchin equivalent. The /fa/ uniform image is just bland and colorless, you could appreciate a dash of color on your wrist.

my watch has a metal band
as it is right now, it is just barely too tight, just that annoying amount where it's noticable
if i add a link, it feels way too loose
i think im just going to wear it tight and hope that the feeling becomes natural to me soon

The clasp should have a springbar inside of it as well. You can move it to a different hole to make smaller adjustments than adding/removing links.

Does anyone know of any cheap tiny springbar tools? I have a tool, but it won't fit into the nook where the springbar is on my steel bracelet.

I have this exact NATO that I wear on my Vostok. Suits perfectly. Your's not so much but mostly because the band is new. They dirty and darken pretty quickly so wear it for a bit and see if it doesn't start to suit.

I can wear my watch constantly for ~10 years (low estimate) before it needs a service. It won't stop ticking during these 10 years. I'm not going to swap it for something that needs to be charged every week.

10 years quite a bit more than recommended service intervals for most mechanical watches (5). Not saying it's not done, people do it a bunch and claim to have no issues with lost/gained time.

I personally, if I had a nice 3k+ would service it every 5-7 years. Or just buy a new one, whatever.

A Danish man worked for a company that would design watches with outsourced movements specifically for corporate gifts and such. His wife and him moved to America to be part of the new American branch. They ended up making their own designs and started their own company for those designs, Skagen.

While I'd never spend the kind of money people want for a Mondaine on a Mondaine, they're probably better than Skagen which are basically all Chinese.
I don't like Mondaine at all though, I think people here get carried away with "minimalism" to the point it's just ugly.

A lot of the time these Russian watches are just made up of whatever is in the parts bin (sometimes with new bits from China) then sold as new old stock. I think it's a pretty interesting business. Also, I'm not implying that ebay watch or anons watch is fake, just saying.
