if they don't give a specific location of manufacture, it pretty much always means that they're not necessarily proud of the location of manufacture.

Think about it, when shit's made in America, England, Japan or Italy, it says so somewhere in the marketing jazz for it.

when they say nothing it means that they don't want to talk about it

am i the only one whose noticed a lot of my made in a first world country stuff is at best comparable in build quality to my chinese built stuff? i genuinely believe chinese factory workers are some of the world's best seamstresses, easily better than the mexicans here in america.

tbh, companies don't go to china anymore just because they have the cheapest workers (places like haiti, laos, and vietnam have that dubious honour). they usually go there because the chinese have a pretty good combination going of well developed supply chains, decently skilled labourers (although by no means comparable to real artisans), and favourable government.

if you move to somewhere like vietnam, it sure is cheaper to produce there, but getting stuff in and out of the country takes more time (problems with bureaucracy) and you spend a lot more money in the process (duties, paying for transportation in less developed arteries, and every once in a while bribes)

that's why companies who need absurd quantities of products produced and shipped really fast (e.g.: apple) pick china over other places. plus they also have better manufacturing facilities, but that usually only applies to industries who need this sort of thing (clean rooms for electronics, and so on)

Yeah, but Tisci probably doesn't spend much, if any, time actually designing the graphics. Most of his time is spent on the real ready-to-wear and couture. Marcelo Burlon spun himself off from Givenchy specifically because he was one of the point men for the graphics work there.

probably because there's very little actual hand work and it's mostly machine made.
you can train a monkey to operate a machine like a drone

the only area where 1st worlders come up on top is QC, but that's usually only because firms don't pay their chinese parters for QC (if they've outsourced to china, they're not exactly committed to grade A goods; they're looking for cheap for them solutions).

However, when for example the japanese run a factory in china, you can pretty much be sure that shit is a-ok.

Depends on the firm in question.
