Why no on the visvim? I always considered A-2s a little too old man ish, but the modern cut and knit sleeves are the selling points for me. Never really fell on the hype train with a lot of undercovers stuff which is why I prefer the simplicity of the normal riders to the ethnic ones/contrast sleeve leathers. I have a lot of technical pieces from both brands.

Not a big fan of Rick/goofy proportioned gothninja stuff. I wear a lot of black but try to stay away from that aesthetic. Do you have any in particular you'd reccomend?

i've got 3 uc leathers. materials are good (leather is very soft) and they're well made but they're not "sturdily" made if u know what i mean. like, a good leather jacket is going to look better and better with age but my ucs just feel like they will disintegrate eventually. they do look dope though

Have you considered Julius or Obscur? They both have amazing leathers as well and generally will do interesting and original cuts. All depends on your style though.

Visvim leathers = really sturdy + boring design
UC leathers = really flimsy + cool design

Personally I still think Rick is the gold standard. really soft + coolest design. The intarsia, stooges, and pilot leathers are all really cool without being crazy avant garde fashionboi core. you dont need to get a blistered gradient high neck leather from him you know.

The other anon is correct. Their pricing, position in the market, and general marketing make them a contemporary (albeit very high-end and influential) brand. A lot of these lines have blurred lately (look at stuff like Alexander Wang, Carven, etc.), but there's still a pretty strong distinction between contemporary and designer ready-to-wear.

It's a very "skate" or "street" sort of styling and I can see why someone would feel that it takes down luxe factor of the pieces a bit, but I would argue that the whole point of stuff like Rick is make luxury normal, to make it grounded and everyday.

Even then, Hedi didn't really treat leathers that much. Most of his work (at Rive Gauche the first time around, at Dior Homme, and now at Saint Laurent) was focused much more on treating textiles. Think about famous washes like Jake, Under My Car, etc. There weren't many heavily treated leathers.
