Currently working on distressing some vans, first I'm going to do a tea dye, then I'll probably bury them for a week or so.

This is a pair of Edwins raw denim, buried for 3 months. Really interesting how they turn out.

i'm planning to dye some shirts, and have purchased two cheap white 100% cotton shirts, as well as soda ash and urea
what is the best type of dye to use, if i was thinking of making a gradient?
also is there anything i need to be aware of?

could try bleach, sand paper, acid wash.. lots of methods used to distress textiles

if u want to remove the shininess from PU leather then use nail polish remover. that will dull them quickly. just apply with a rag
