More than enough reasons in this thread alone.

Multiple reasons:

1) His signature style is sleezy, that's what he does. It's what he's paid to do and it's why people love his work. The issue here is a societal one, asking why is Terry Richardson allowed to molest 14 year olds is like asking why is Obama allowed to order drone strikes on 14 year olds. Because we as a society have enabled them to do so. At this point the problem is much greater than the individuals involved. Putting Richardson in Jail or impeaching Obama would not stop 14 year olds being exploited in fashion shoots or killed by drone strikes. It's society as a whole that needs to change before that can happen.

2) He has the ability to make people famous or successful. There are millions of people with that exact same ability who do exactly what Terry does in a myriad of different ways. The only reason he gets strung up for it is because his job is very public and the world loves to demonize sexulaity. In fact in the grand scheme of things what Terry does is almost quaint. Girls come to him and trade him sex in exchange for a small shot at fame and fortune. Meanwhile senators and governors are trading American civil liberties in exchange for more money and power than a flavour of the month model could ever dream of. Who's worse at the end of the day?

What Terry does is sleazy but he's only giving the masses what they want and the way he utilizes his position of power is no different than anyone else and in actuality is small fucking potatoes.

I don't even like his work but when people get up in a tiff about his methods it's obvious that it's coming from the perspective of extremely privileged western women. Girls in third world countries would kill their parents to get a chance to be molested by Terry.

I'm not trying to silence anyone I'm adding another perspective to the conversation and actively participating with anyone that wants to join.

Wanting Richardson to be prosecuted for his crimes is fine and dandy but what you need to realize is that there is A LOT of grey area shit going on here. There's a reason he's not in the slammer yet and it's because it's not as simple as him being a molester. The problem is that he's also an artist and that's where his sexual exploits meet. It would be one thing if he was a wedding photographer who was fucking the brides behind the scenes but he's a fashion photographer who's entire style revolves around sleazy, racy, trash culture.

As such when someone says that he exploited them it's no where near as cut and dry considering his entire portfolio is literally full of him legally fucking and exploiting women.

This is why dedicating so much time, money, and resources trying to "bring him to justice" is such a farce. The issue here is that he's exploiting girls but he's doing it right out in the open and with signed release forms, he's found an incredible loophole and no one has managed to best him yet.

This is why I feel it's more important to examine the society and system that enabled him to do what he does and not actually focus on the individual himself because you're never going to catch him and it's a complete waste of time to sit around getting angry about it. This is my problem with the Terry conversation, everyone would rather focus on bringing this one guy to justice than trying to tackle reform in the industry as a whole.
