dont want to rain on your parade but its probably a scam. there are quite a few companies that ask you if you want to get in to modelling and ask for you email or phone number or whatever, then call you a few weeks later and want you to pay a bunch of money for headshots and they will 'get you set up' in the business.
they dont really give a fuck what you look like but if it doesnt work out you cant really blame them and if it does they look good

I only say that because me and some friends were approached by some one saying pretty much the exact same thing, I didnt go for it but my friend did. They told him he didnt have to pay for their services, but they had to pay a photographer $800 (rofl) to take test headshots etc. he obviously told him to fuck off after that.
As long as the site and studio look legit i dont see any harm in checking it out, just beware of scams

This happened to me once.

I was waiting for caltrain in burlingame and this middle aged woman came up to me, asked if I'd model for her website and took a photo of me. We talked for a long time and it turned out she had met Rick Owens while working with Michelle Lamy on a jewelry project. Very cool lady.

Yea, she was extremely particular about every little detail. Some of the techniques she used were really impressive to me. On my photo she had a hideous pink duvet on the bed and when the afternoon sun hit it, it was a neon glow on my face.

Most of the photos are in her house, which was probably the best interior design I've seen. Don't really want to get into that as I feel it might be intrusive.

The guy was clearly just a typical mid 20's Vancouver fashion blogger.

My one aunt tells me I should model but I have a really round face and am 21. Even if I could model I don't think they really look at 21 yr olds who've never modeled before.

Other than that I've only been asked to hair model for a friend.
