Hey /fa/, fa/tg/uy here. I wasn't sure whether my question would fit in better on /k/, /out/, or here, but I decided to try here first. Since this is the fashion board, I'm assuming you all deeply care about maintaining your wardrobe items--especially leather.

Christmas came early this year, and now I have a new pair of leather boots--Doc Martens, if it matters any. as a beginner, you should definitely focus on subdued, well-fitting pants. Neutral colors allow you to experiment with more interesting tops - pants should facilitate that, I suppose.

consider copping slim chinos (Levi's 511/510 fits are recommended for beginners), unwashed/non-distressed dark denim, and perhaps black denim as nice starting trousers.

the sweater fits well, it's mainly just that shawl-neck sweaters are a bit strange and those streaks of white lead to it being "overdesigned."

grey tops and grey shoes is a bit of a no-no, but don't really sweat it. it's only really heinous if it's bright-color shoes with bright-color tops (eg red and red)

the main problem here is that there's like three or four styles competing for attention. the shoes are like "normal guy"/wannabe hypebeast, the pants are, again, like slightly flashy normal person casual wear, and then the sweater is like "classy". Each thing separately is more or less okay; I personally find swoops obnoxious, think the sweater is ugly, and think the pants would look a lot better in not-red and a more tapered fit, but the pants and shoes especially are totally acceptable as okay-looking. With a t-shirt and a smile you could pull off a casual charming kind of thing, but with the sporty bottom half and then the sweater, it's just confusing.

it's primarily a preference, but shawl-necks are sorta also H&M-core at the moment. I recommend simple crew necks, but don't ditch the shawl if you can style it well enough later down the road.
