I've got a Bapex x Ursus (w)taps from 09 that I picked up for just under a grand that's held up stupidly well and is based on the submariner design - compared it to an actual rolex movement and you can't tell the difference then again I'm no watch snob. You can find the mainline bapex's for five hundred or so on rakuten or sometimes ebay.

I can't stand "traditional" watches, along the lines of Rolexes and dive watches. The bright silver, cluttered faces, and boring links are just shit to me. They're so gaudy

funny thing is seiko's very own spring drive had shattered the swiss horological notions of what was possible in the early 90's by actually producing a sweeping second hand movement, but also incorporating the most accurate mechanical movement in the known world.

as seiko continued to do that, they also added a minute repeating function to their spring drive and offered it for a fraction of patek's minute repeater movement, embarrassing the swiss brand's heritage of engineering marvels throughout the decades.

While it's not a "real" ISO rated diver watch, it is overly capable for shallow dives.
