What style closely matches the "outdoorsman", traditionalish style?

Key items I can think of are wool jumpers, wool socks, boots etc.

It's got to be pretty functional

I think there are a few pieces I want to swap out. For instance, I have samurais and dior jeans - and even though they don't really fit in that category, I still think they can make the style work. Obviously I won't be doing outdoor activities in them, but when I have to put sociable outfits together I wear them.

Just googled that. I guess I could say this is pretty close to the style I'm talking about. Though I would have a longer coat, preferrably.

Think L.L. Bean. Heavy/durable fabrics and more of a focus on function instead of sheer form.

I see. Definitely look into the Japanese "workwear" or "Classic Americana" type of stuff. Mark McNairy also is very relevant to this.

I see this as a sort of woodsy cabincore/workwear kind of.

For shirts and tops think TEXTURE. lots of layering. Wool, denim, canvas, chambray, corduoroy, flannel, etc. think heavy guage wool sweaters and thick shirts earth tones and muted unsaturated blues, reds, greens.

Pants you want thicker pants so rigid denim, cords, wool, or thick twill pants. Besides the jeans, you want the pants in darker earth tones, such as brown, navy, burgundy maybe (if thats your thing, personally not a fan) gray, dark green, etc

Boots for footware probably. Think rugged boots, big silhouettes. Red wing, wolverine, visvim, etc. personally i think camp mocs and
moc toes especially lend themselves to this particular style, but ultimately its up to you. Brown leather is probably the best color for this look but black can definitely work
