Looking to buy my first pair of raw denim jeans next week. I've read the sticky a few times, but I wanted to ask you what you started with.

I'm 6' 175 (male), pretty /fit/ - looking for something slim but not faggy tight. Could you recommend a beginner pair of raw denims? Price not really an issue but I'm expecting between $100-200. The end goal is to own 3-4 pairs of nice raw denim in dark blue (2), black (1), and greyish (1).

possibly N&F weird guys. idk what you define as faggy tight. i'm an inch taller and 35 lbs less, and skinny guys were pretty baggy on me but i think they'd be tight on someone your size. you should really go try some stuff on though.

FUCK Broadway. Tons of tourists, or just generally slow as fuck people. Anytime I'm in a hurry, I walk one street over to avoid the bullshit that is pedestrian traffic.

Have you ever been down Mercer, Greene, or Wooster? I walk by every day on my way to campus, and never go in because I'm too poor to afford any of it and it's usually really empty so I feel awkward for going in at all. ;_;

>>7385802
I've been to all of them. I was a model in the city, so I'd go into the corporate offices of all the companies in midtown at one point or another. Usually the stores try to make you feel like a pleb, but most are hourly and it's not rocket science to pull the name of a corporate higher up if you need to, at which point they hop on your dick quicker than a staten island girl on a pair of Juicy sweatpants.

Hong Kong is the best for shopping.

You will not find anything in Korea that you can't find in your home country. Everything locally is a low quality copy of a western design. Clothes are expensive compared to the states and especially Hong Kong, and the food sucks dick unless you're wild about pickled vegetables with every meal. The vintage shopping is shit and drastically overpriced. There is very little culture to speak of, especially compared to Japan or China. The only reason to come here is for work, and even then you will regret it.

Japan and China are superior in every way. Japan for modernity (which comes with a price), and China for value (at the expense of modernity and disgusting (I can't emphasize that enough) cultural habits).

Japan has much better food. Korea is probably slightly cheaper, but not enough to make it a destination in and of itself. Only come if you're dead set on fucking Kgirls, which isn't as easy as some make it out to be unless you have no standards at all.

This isn't true of China.

Not for shopping anyway. Unless you're talking big chain store stuff like H&M and Uniqlo.

Anything luxury attracts a massive tariff.

I went into a boutique in Shanghai that was having a 50% sale on goth shit... the rick tees still cost a fuck ton more than US retail AFTER a half off discount lol.

Hong Kong is excellent though. You used to be able to bargain, but the Chinese mainlanders have driven demand so high that boutiques rarely need to discount too often.

Japan whilst relatively more expensive for living expenses is a haven for shopping. The vintage stores are second to none in the world. You want a niche? You're gonna find it in Tokyo.

>>7385978
Definitely. By all means come to Korea just to say you did it. Just don't expect to find anything interesting. Every other country in Asia is superior in one way or another, Korea is good for living because it's not glarlingly worse than others all around.

>> No.7386038

lol

I was referring to the value part in China.

some parts are great but man, the people can really miss you off.

Japan is great, the tariffs are fine. No where near China standards. But you should also be buying native Japanese labels. They're the cheapest in Japan. (CdG, Julius Yohji etc)

Yeah shanghai bar scene is fun. If only because alcohol is so cheap and the women are extremely easy to fuck. But even shanghai is an industrial wasteland even in the modern areas. disgusting smog, people pissing and spitting in the streets. being white people would just stare at me sometimes. no concept of personal space or manners.

>> No.7386367

That's mostly the expats I've seen out in Jingan lol

And the chinese who do it are the migrant workers. The native Shanghaier is actually too much of a snob to do that shit lol.

The bar scene is fucking fantastic, I regularly would leave clubs and bars and I would be amazed to see the sun has come up... I rarely do that type of shit at home.

I don't mess with the Chinese girls though, too messy and you never know what you're getting yourself into. The Euro girls on working visas are great, they're there to have fun and the vigorous health checks for visas usually mean they're clean. Hurray.

I got used to the stares, just stare back and take photos of them when they take photos of yu/

>> No.7386402

Chinese girls are completely socially retarded and annoying, but yeah there's a lot of expat girls that are down to have fun and hook up. It's like adult summer camp. It feels like everyone there is just biding their time until they have to return to where they came from and get back to real life. Great to visit, but would never in a million years work or live there.

>> No.7386432

>>7386402
Chinese girls are just trouble. You don't know what their back ground is half the time and I've had friends get into long winded issues with them.

The summer camp thing is great cause all you need is great conversation to get the ball rolling... the douche bag count is HUGE there so it's really easy to stand out... just don't be one.

And yeah, short term visits are great. Staying there for the long run... you better have some connections to do long term business.
