Also, I am not familiar with the quality of UC, but I am willing to shell out extra dosh for well made clothing. Low quality clothes feel weird and they only last a season. It is best to buy something that will last you many seasons.

Now, I bet your parents are going to buy you a shitty leather jacket from Kohl's.

>Low quality clothes feel weird and they only last a season. It is best to buy something that will last you many seasons.
I have heard this so many times on this board and I always wonder: what do you do with your clothes?

- I have $20 jeans that last me since more than 7 years
- I have a $200 leather jacket that lasts me since 4 years without even the slightest defects
- I have $60 shoes that last me since 6 years
etc etc etc

And I wore all of those items regularly, sometimes daily, and I do a lot of hiking and stuff like that.

Don't mean to hate on high-quality clothing, but when I buy that, I buy that mostly for the design and sometimes for the superior material feel, and not for durability.

Just stop attacking your clothes with a fucking boxcutter or whatever it is you're doing wrong with your regular clothes.

Well, no matter what, all clothes will degrade over time.

All things constant:
>Lower quality clothes will degrade faster. >Higher quality clothes will degrade slower.

Higher quality usually denotes better materials, better craftsmanship, etc. Also, you don't consider durability when buying clothes? What the fuck is wrong with you?

>> No.7298883

yes. black hi-top suede converse. I wore the shit outta them in high school. The soles still look decent, the suede is undamaged, the only thing I had to replace was the laces, which I did after about 3 years because they became all tattered at the ends and even eventually ripped apart in the middle.

I also do have steel-toed SHARKs (good doc martens replica) - those are a lot more fucked up, especially at the toecap (which I regularly used to smash beer bottles), the leather is all opened up and shit, but the boots themselves hold up fantastically and were of much use in the recent floods in Germany, making my way through 10 inches of fucking mud.

>> No.7298892

my parents have always been enthused by the choices I asked for them in the past... It's all been stuff that's more tech wear or w/e and could last a few decades.

seeing as how, for example, my suede Converse hold up nicely since 6 years, I wonder how many years it would take until I can't wear them anymore, and whether any more expensive article would hold up longer.
Also, I think I might die before my dirt-cheap Trapper leather jacket gives up on me.

And why do you think I don't consider durability when I buy designer clothers? Right - because I have never had durability problems with cheap clothes, ever (except some t-shirts that ripped during parties etc).

Seriously I never got this and I probably never will.

lol kiddo, I wear mostly Burberry, Smith, Dior, Prada, SLP and Dolce&Gabbana. Not because I think they are of "superior quality" or "longer-lasting" or whatever bullshit you make up to justify buying stuff you can't objectively afford, but just because I have the funds to not care whether a trenchcoat costs $200 or $1050 and I just don't go shopping in H&M anymore, plus wearing labels like that is kind of a status prerequisite in the fucked up phony circles I move around nowadays business-wise.

But seriously guys, if you are still in college and you are saving up for more than a month just to buy a fucking jacket and then fool yourself into believing that you paid for "m-muh durability and qualuty" and made a totally rational buying decision, you are deluded. spend that money on friends, travel or your girlfriend and don't try to be someone you're not. and there's certainly nothing wrong with dolce&gabbana. that brand is getting a huge-ass load of hate because many people instantly associate them with shit-tier brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, but as a matter of fact those guys are extremely talented designers with very interesting (yet wearable) designs. Seriously, check out their fashion week shows, their stuff is awesome.

Smith is also pretty cool.

The only of that brands I named that is really shitty is Burberry (sans their trenchcoats, those are cool) - but as a well-known German businessman once said: "it's the fish who must like the worm, not the fisherman". You know we got Joop and Lagerfeld but still, noveau riches here go all batshit insane about a brand like Burberry. I remember when I was still at Uni, about half of all the people wore those ugly-ass scarves (not even the nice ones, but that nova-check shit).
It's probably because it's visibly branded without being overly offensive and people think "why spend money on that when other people don't realize what brand it is". Same goes for Polo Ralph Lauren.
