A lot of jealous photographers will complain about his style, saying it's flat and simplistic and easily repeatable.

The truth is, he thought of it first and they're mad that they didn't see the stylistic potential of camera mounted flash, solid backgrounds and a good instant camera.

Also, he's really good at getting his subjects to loosen up and overcome inhibitions.

Models in his photos always look like they're either authentically horny or authentically having fun.

The focal length is relatively short, typically about 35mm. It distorts a little, but when he puts the camera closer to fill the frame it creates intimacy.

there has been lots of discussion about him on /p/ and I've come to the conclusion that most of the criticism he receives is jealous photographers spending big bucks on gear then using girls from model mayhem (basically like craigslist for "models" aka ugly women who got told by a family member they should model, seriously its hilarious check it out) who aren't getting the same results and recognition as him
part of the criticism is that what he does can be easily replicated but so can Andy Warhol does that make Andy any less valid of an artist?

His subjects look normal, or not like supermodels and other people who are selected for their supreme physical beauty. Even though most of his subjects are relatively good looking and young this is perceived as 'weird looking' in 2013 where we are being fed the most flattering images of the most attractive people at any given moment despite the fact that you see these 'weird looking' people whenever you look in the mirror or go outside.
