Hey /fa/. I used to really like the idea of minimalism, mostly in interior design but also in fashion. I sort of got away from it as impractical but my life has gotten so cluttered and complicated recently I'm finding myself drawn to it again. I've always been attracted to clean lines, negative space, and strong accents, and I'm wanting to create that in my everyday life now. Less stuff to deal with and less money spent is also a draw. So what are your takes on minimalism?

Minimalism general, I guess.

>> No.7261513

I used to like graphic tees and combining lots of colors and skating and dumb shit.
Now I do absolutely nothing and only wear dark tones.
These days I've been wearing long-sleeved plain grey, white or black tees with black pants and black shoes/boots. (couldn't post a full body fit rn)
I collected toys but might sell them to get more clothing.
Didn't realize 'till not too long ago, it's minimalism.
I'm naturally being dragged towards it because of my apathy.
I just want to get rid of everything.

I think minimalism started to disappear because of all the hype of internet and how easy it is now to get things. But it's a very interesting aesthetic that needs to be explored more.
It's kind of a challenge, like, how little can someone do?
New computers and phones are starting to approach it slightly.

minimalism through multitasking is the only correct choice

I've noticed I've been getting a lot more plain clothing. I'll wear some boots that stand out but then it's just dark jeans, a plain belt, and a solid black/white/grey t shirt (I'm liking white more these days, with slightly less dark jeans). This isn't what I wear every day, but it's becoming more and more common for me. It's extremely easy to put together and usually looks better than when I try to put a more complicated outfit together.

I dont really enjoy the classical western minimalism... it contradicts itself in its theory and I find it has no soul.

I do enjoy the minimalism results from spiritual realization and an attitude of minimalism towrds life. Which is more inclined towards an eastern minimalism.

You show what matters and get rid of other things that obscure that value.

Also... I think its dumb for people that claim minim to get 'minim things' kinda defeats the purpose.

A minimalistic rooms gives your mind breathing room - it's when you finally get back to your place, or studio (where it's especially important IMO) and just breathe out and finally let your mind get to where YOU personally are as a person

Not littered with distractions and clutter like the real world is - not littered with dumb posters and your clothes from the last few days

Girls won't understand all of this necessarily, but they'll WANT to be at your place for this reason - your place will be the place friends want to go to; it's just chill and they can't seem to ascertain why

A clean room and living area is a clear mind

A minimalistic lifestyle allows you to pack everything you own and move to another city on a whim

I've been accused of being a minimalist out of necessity, but I don't want to just pile on a ton of shit as soon as I'm going to be somewhere for a while - it's just begging to put yourself in a rut

i feel like minimalism is an aversion towards the over and hyper stimulation modern technology provides. I'm able to listen to any song, watch any film, order any item, communicate with any friend, and research any piece of information wherever and whenever I like. This encourages procrastination (I can do it whenever, so why do it now?), and a feeling of complete apathy (if I can do these things whenever, then they loose their significance). You always hear artists talk about the importance of limitations, but I wonder if the same principles can't apply to life in general
