If you ever gave her anything or did anything for her it was hard for her to accept it; she didn't understand what she did to deserve something so great. I never quite saw anything through her eyes, but she was an amazing photographer. Taking a picture of a tree? She could make it look absolutely beautiful from whatever angle she was at, but no matter how I looked at it, how I got behind her and tried to see it from her view I never could; but it always looked impeccable in print. One year, mom and I pooled to get Maren a really nice film camera, about $600. It was the top of the line camera at the time. Guess what? She didn't accept it at first. She didn't feel like she deserved it, but eventually took it because she was trembling with excitement, it was a dream come true. I still have a roll of film undeveloped that is locked in the back of the camera, with eight pictures left, a journal of her thoughts (which I, nor anyone else will ever read) and just about everything else.
