one thing in particular to look for is the collar roll. look @ the difference between the flat and lifeless uniqlo collars and the collar in OP's pic. compare that even to the nice Kamakura collar roll in this pic. not saying one is inherently better or more /fa/ than the other, but it is a major difference

Heavyweight or lightweight Oxford cloth? Collar roll or no collar roll? Slim cut or traditional? Extra slim? What kind of shirring?

Collar roll is just an aesthetic thing. It emphasises the casual aspect of an ocbd. Some people really like the way it moves when you turn your head. As fae as I know, the effect wasn't intentional when button down collars were first designed, but now some people like it. Its less less precise and more devil may care.

To get collar roll you need:

Longer collar points

No interlining in the collar.

Its easier to achieve unbuttoned and without a tie, but when it happens with a tie it looks fantastic.

Brooks Bros makes a good OCBD for the price, that is why I mentioned them. they are made out of decent materials/construction and you can usually find a store nearby which carries them. but it is still def. mall-tier. it has lackluster collars and even the "extra slim fit" isn't very slim.

the others I mentioned have some combination of superior cut, materials, construction, or details, which sets them above Brooks Bros. maybe it was unfair to group Brooks Bros w/ uniqlo, jcrew, and LEC, but it doesn't belong in the same category as Kamakura, BoO, or GBV.

Uniqlo is fast fashion. Bleh fabric, trendy trendy cuts and low low price.

BB uses rather heavy weight quality fabric but the cuts are conservative even when ordering slim.

I would not place the two in the same category. BB fabric and durability far surpasses the likes of uniqlo.
