i already know the answer.

i was hoping someone else would get it right, and explain it, but i'll do it because the world needs my wisdom.

I don't know much about turnleft, but i do know he is a trip. the fact he is a trip after such a long time proves he is posting with his ego in many of his posts. actually, i would even say in most cases posting with a trip for ANY amount of time means posting from your ego.
An anon may post from his ego, but there is no reputation attached to it, and there is also no form of accountability. This isn't the case for turnleft and other trips, so they form relationships with other trips in order to make sure they will receive support, and seem "important" when they need to.
There is nothing wrong with this in real life, or online, but it can, and often is, a tactic used by people to get an upper hand and "win" an argument simply by having the loudest presence.
The entire "argument" is pointless and even futile in the end, but sometimes people would rather boost their own ego and/or e-penis, by showing their "stripes" and history as a trip, than by contributing anything of value to a conversation.

A good example would be this very post, because none of that info was very relevant to determining "timbers" gender. I do think it is important to consider, when reading any post, from any trip. I also realize that a lot of people know this already, and those that don't most likely won't learn about it from my post.

Anywayz, i don't care about timber, and don't know her, so I am not trying to disrespect anybody with this. It's clear timber is a girl because of the way turnleft said she was a guy. He was using it as a way to show his "insider knowledge" and also maybe even get a slight lol from his inside joke.
"females dont know anything about fashun" translates to "some idiots say that girls can't do fashion, but I am not a lame guy like them. i know girls can do fashion."

By using this response, he has, like i mentioned earlier, chosen to duck out of actually using information, instead going with a joke response.
He wouldn't have made a joke/sarcastic response if timber was a guy. He would have either given some type of evidence, story, or simply just stated the fact.

There is also a deeper meaning behind this post, which is the supplication AKA white knight factor. I'm not suggesting turnleft is trying to get with timber, or anything like that, but (maybe subconsciously) he wants her approval. He wants her to be another person in his "support system." Maybe she's already there, but he still feels a need to keep up this behavior. He is showing how in touch he is, and how different he is to the lame guys on /fa/ who say derogatory comments like "women can't do fashun."
This is why I used the term "white knight."
A white knight guy will eagerly jump to defend a girl hoping to win her approval. turnleft is no different here, even if it isn't the same circumstances.

Things are much easier having a support group. You never have to worry about being the odd man out. You don't have to lead, you don't have to make decisions. You can simply follow and copy. But you also CAN lead, and inspire others to change.

I'm not really seeing that frame in turnlefts posts. I'm seeing more of a passive, thirst for affection. It makes sense. Many would say (most likely even turnleft) that fashion is all about being confident and sure of yourself, and I agree. But it's somewhat ironic, because fashion is also used to cover up insecurities and look for praise because you DON'T have much self confidence. That explains why there are so many hateful, overly negative posts on /fa/.

Generally people who express negative and hateful comments do it from a place of insecurity. They feel bad about themselves, and want to bring others down to their level.

Instead of saying "i don't like it because ___" and giving their reasons, they will say "you are such a fucking idiot for that one."
No substance, no value. the BEST thing that can result from that is the false idea that someone will say "damn, that guy just told that other guy what's up. he called him out and #wrekt him. I'm gonna tell him he was cool for that!"
It doesn't make much sense, but i know that's how people think. They think their negativity will somehow win them points. The sad thing is, sometimes it does.
But who fucking cares about winning metaphorical points?
It's weakness, and it's stupid, but it happens.

The reason why we don't see more "positive" posts is simple as well.
As stupid as it may seem to you and me, some find too much risk complimenting something on here. Saying "i like that" shows confidence, and it builds people up. But unfortunately it leaves an open window to: "wow you like that? you must be a faggot too"
which, due to fragile egos, leads to some type of sad flame war.

There are all types of philosophical standpoints that explain and attempt to make sense of the overabundance of negativity. A great one would be the "theory of hybridism" AKA the hybrid theory. Consider this passage:

"You love the things I say I'll do, the way I hurt myself again just to get back at you. You take away when I give in. My life, my pride is broken. You love the way I look at you, while taking pleasure in the awful things you put me through. You take away if I give in. My life, my pride is broken. Forfeit the game before somebody else
takes you out of the frame and puts your name to shame. Cover up your face. You can't run the race. The pace is too fast. You just won't last"

This passage speaks about the dangers and absurdism of negativity.
"..the way I hurt myself again just to get back at you."
How crazy is that idea? That the narrator is trying to hurt someone else, but is hurting HIMSELF in the process.

"You take away when I give in."
When a user posts a fit he is taking a risk. he KNOWS he will be judged, but he is hoping for some constrictive criticism. Instead, users like turnleft (not to call anyone out) post hurtful, and negative comments. They take what the anon has given, and destroy it, making him less than he was before.
Sure, you could even make a case that you are building him up to be stronger, but nine times out ten you have broken his life and pride. No wonder nobody posts fits.

We ALL have negative feelings at times. Nobody likes to feel bad, so why create a persona (trip) just to amplify the worst traits of yourself?

Another brief but POWERFUL passage from the theory of hybridism:

"I can’t hold on to what I want when I’m stretched so thin. It’s all too much to take in. I can’t hold on to anything, watching everything spin with thoughts of failure sinking in.
If I turn my back I’m defenseless and to go blindly seems senseless. If I hide my pride and let it all go on then they’ll, take from me ‘till everything is gone. If I let them go I’ll be outdone, but if I try to catch them I’ll be outrun. If I’m killed by the questions like a cancer, then I’ll be buried in the silence of the answer by myself. I ask why, but in my mind I find I can’t rely on myself."

>damn.
That small passage does an incredible job summing up the situation. Deep down turnleft, you have a hard time finding peace simply being YOU. It's easy to inflate yourself while behind a mask, but as i've demonstrated in these last four cool posts, that mask is quickly crumbling.
You feel like you have to keep shit posting, negative, meaningless things, because if you quit you'll be perceived as a failure.
But you've got it all wrong my friend. Turning off your trip, or going out of your way to be positive would make you A HERO.

don't buy fast fashion or cheap shit
buy vintage and repurpose things, buy surplus
50% of the fit should be self made or so vintage that nobody else will ever have the same piece
don't buy mass produced things everybody already knows/has
the more common an item is the harder it is to wear it out of context (field generals, palladium, normal bomber jackets)
use detailing to make it look spacey, not the pieces itself

that makes a perfect lunarcore fit

haha not sure if its really lunarcore but once while thrifting I found this white puffy jacket with little patches on the sleeves that say "explorer" and "mission comet storm"
bought it for $20 and it's my default winter coat when it's really cold out

>> No.7145224

You're not making any sense. The jacket looks casual like a space drifter or merchant. The patches make it look like it belongs to a company or a certain spaceship. The pants and boots ground it in an actual space used things to make it realistic.

You are soooo far off.
Bondage has been in scifi forever since it's actualy space and aviaton gear it's based on.

The whole spacecore aesthetic seems to be nothing more than "buy something silver and white - now it's sci fi"

You don't even look at silhouttes or detailing

>> No.7145284

>>7145267
I'm not saying you can't have bondage items, I'm saying that particular pair of pants look out of place in space. The colour and the overly slim fit with bondage curling inwards in composition with a flight engineer's jacket is just strange. The "block on top of stilts" look isn't very lunar, buddy. It also seems particularily unfitting for something emulating a machinery guy.
