lunar by its core is not minimalist
not by the actual meaning of minimal relative to fashion anyways. Where minimal refers to a general lack of texture and breaks, primarily focusing on the 'overall' image portrayed (often silhouettes or geometric forms). In this meaning, minimal is not the thing to be looking to.
Generally I think lunar can be broken into three categories. The first is influenced by current space technology. The heavy, overbearing, large, bulky suits crowded with utilitarian-based shifts and break-up and gadgets. The second is influenced by popular scifi films take on sci-fi, set far into the distant future. Films like Alien, Star Trek (show and film) and Star Wars. Generally sleeker in design but as these films focus on the more 'working class' of sci-fi settings, they maintain a general air of utilitarianism and keep much of the bulkiness and form of modern-day cosmonauts. And finally you have the kind of sci-fi described by Philip K Dick and his peers, where mankind has evolved past such base human features and literally become orbs dancing across planets

I guess I would say fashion (vs costumes) put primary focus on the outfit itself, which might be why runways (almost void environments) and white space on webstores (again, an empty space with nothing else to draw to but the clothing itselF) have remained the fashion catalog norm.

That it's actually used doesn't inherently make it fitting for a style, pic related for example. Left is the actual piece used for space, and it really doesn't fit the lunarcore aesthetic very well. Use alone doesn't constitute much in terms of viability, especially because again it comes back to costuming and environment (you're not actually going to use a nasa-approved space suit when attempting to appeal to the lunarcore aesthetic)
and again the major sources for inspo with lunarcore as it seems to be conceived in these threads don't really have that much relation to things like watches, especially not expensive looking ones. The main inspo is modern space-exterior wear (the actual suits, but again that doesn't mean you're going to wear the suits themselves. Evoke, not exist) or the kind of working class space-tech depicted in sw st alien and memories. At the very least, no one seems to be going after I guess the LOGH aesthetic (although that's not really all that 'spacey'? I'm just trying to get at the upper-class space aesthetic that is mostly ignored here)
