>> No.7108356

>>7108347
You don't like brown straps? What is actually a bit crazy my friend. How can you not like brown straps. Not only does it go with all the brown/red/warm/earth toned colours you wear, but is far more versatile than a black strap. It goes well with a white dial or a black dial. Mesh is the flimsiest, cheapest and least attractive way to hold a watch. That's not even to mention the fact that the colour range (difference in tones from the grain of the leather) is far superior and interesting on a brown strap.

I mean on your particular watch. Blue hands with white/stainless steel everything is not a good combo. There is nothing to counteract the blue, which there needs to be when introducing blued markers and hands. Otherwise they pop too much and look gimmicky.

The brown perfectly throws off the blue in the other picture. Not only that but blue/brown are a very typical and aesthetically pleasing colour combination, in watches, fashion and art of all kinds.

That said, the point of rolex's existence in 2013 is "currency for bribes in Russia and China" so no-one will ever be impressed by your taste if you rock one

Anyways, if I would ever buy a Rolex, it would be an Explorer. It has a clean look, understated look. It's also 39mm, so it looks good on skinny wrists.

The only reason why you'd feel like a douche is because of the Rolex logo.

That reminds me.
I have this KC watch in disgusting orange that I got for a birthday a couple of years back when I was less effay. Is there any way I could get a different band for this in like a leather or am I better off just selling it to a fuccboi.

Oh hahahahahaa! It is *time* for a watch thread! Watches tell *time*, and we have a thread dedicated to these *time* telling devices. It is indeed *time* for a watch thread. I finally get it now, OP, you are a genius! Hahahaha!

Would cop @ $100 or less.

The SSB series is nice as they contain the relatively new VK series of mecha-quartz movements. Unfortunately, Seiko is only using the one with the semi-redundant 24hr dial in "Seiko"-branded watches and, since Seiko's really only "testing the water" with this line in the Western market, the SSB series is sorta generic looking.

>>7109210
Well-loved amongst watch enthusiasts. Personally, sort of unique and ugly in a nice way.

>>7109700
As long as it's within 10-seconds a day, it's pretty good for a Seiko 5. Mine is always on the dot. Regulation for improved accuracy can be done at home for free if you can find the software online.

for something with the slightest feel of authenticity given that it doesn't run on battery but rather gears, springs and other mechanical elements; refer to this chart

>DISCLAIMER
these are entry level as fuck
they do not keep time as accurate as a quartz (battery) watch, they may be out by 10 seconds a day, a minute or two if you are unlucky. Not really a problem for most people

how tight they are on your wrist is easily fixed, just have links in the steel bracelet taken out or put another band on

the main issue with having smaler wrists is some watch faces look really big on them

now this can go either way, as bigger watches have become more and more popular and so it really depends on the style and taste of the person. a watch enthusiast would probably tell you if the watch lugs (4 prongs coming off the watch case and connecting to the watch strap) hang over each side of your wrist - watch is too big.
if small wrists its safest to choose watches that are 39mm and below

but it's like everything, just get what makes you happy and suits you

pic related, my bitch-ass 6.5 inch wrists with a 41mm watch - I wouldn't ever go any bigger, and this is slightly on the too big side anyway

pretty cool actually. has a power reserve twice the length of normal automatics but for under 1k which is for the most part unheard of

good review here:
http://wornandwound.com/2013/04/17/tissot-luxury-automatic-powermatic-80-review/

that budget gives you free rein over a lot of styles and features though so I wouldn't settle for just the first thing you come across and happen to like

I think some watches in that price range are featured in this webpage http://www.theversatilegent.com/great-mens-watches-under-1000/

I like the one with stick markers on it, but as always if you have more money buy a pre-owned watch above the $1k price.
