I've always worn a baggy shirt in the past and I just picked up American Apparel tees and I like the fit pretty much all the way around, but I'm not sure if a shirt being snug in your armpits is normal. If you do all the buttons up, you need to be: ultramasculine, a fag, or a mountain man/farmer.
Roll the sleeves up to make it look a lot better.
The pattern's fine, although the question you should be asking yourself is: What looks good to me, for me? Context is much less important than authenticity.
And you'll naturally develop a sense for what fits by buying clothes over time. I recommend thrift stores to start so you don't spend too much initially. Work up to expensive as your taste gets better.

Only NY and Supreme have some decent ones, though you may be tempted to seam-rip the patch off of the Supreme caps. I think American Apperal sells a plain leather black cap. Also look into "vintage" 90s snapbacks on ebay. also slightly bend the bill and push it downward for a more mature and functional look. Don't disregaurd strapbacks either, always put the strap inside the hat. I like this hat in particular.
