been thinking about the incorporation of more 'futuristic'/sleek textiles like neoprene or foils-maybe even pvcs or latex-to counteract the lack of colour (presence of texture as the main visual interest) if i were to go this way, and making the overture to space/futuristics in the sharpness of the tailoring. the space oddity enters the equation not with the practical assocation (military ventures, exploration) but the out-of-this-world unconventional, at least in my head. this starts to get into straight emperor zurgcore, tho

thrift shops are a potential goldmine for this style; beat up old basics fit snugly in, and that can leave you with more money to spend on a sick pair of kicks and a nice jacket or something.

It would be cosplay if people were actually copying movie costumes or actual astronaut clothing. The fits we've seen so far haven't been like that. Nobody is dressing up as Neil Armstrong, or even as Ellen Ripley. It's more about trying to say the same thing, which does to some extent mean evoking visual motifs specifically -- chunky boots, lots of pockets, a palette of white and brown and silver and safety orange.

Is that art? Sure, why not? I think that "seeing what it's possible to say" is a worthy goal.

One idea I had: get a custom Lunarcore version of these Russell Moccasin (top quality, all custom shoe/bootmaker) boots made up.

Get it made it white or an off-white. Do the sole up in something kind of sneaker like (like the Newporter) or in a heavy duty hiking sole (like the Sierra) and have it painted/paint it white, or orange, or not. Lunarcore, Spacecore, whatever you want to call it, is actually surprisingly practical. The way I usually see it presented is a three-way combination of workwear, militaria, and minimalist futurism. All of these combined should, in theory, result in sturdy fabrics, practical but tailored fits, and a utilitarian but still interesting overall outfit. Don't be an idiot and stomp outside in moonboots and anti-glare goggles unless you want fat pimply teenagers trying to pose with you, but think of a way to incorporate your own personal style and what you can pull off.
